3 color woodland camo
I did my first deuce in Krylon paints; black, brown and green and it looked pretty good.
I did my second truck in colors from RAPCO and it looks official, the colors are the real thing. I learned from BULLDOGMACK13 about this stuff and he helped me detail mine out.... his...
Did a parade yesterday in Canon City, CO which is about 60 miles of state highway drive at least, each way from here.
My friend's fire engine that he got this past winter has a top speed of 45 mph due to the way it is geared in the rear axle so he borrowed this drop deck trailer from a friend...
tank full
originator of this thread stated..." I can't afford to shell out $250 in diesel, so i usually keep the tank at 1/4th's full" It's just a matter of how you look at it and work at it. My tank is full but I got there $30 at a time. Now I go out and play and then just spend $30 to $50...
most powerful at 2000 rpm
F18hornetM,
"I dont watch the tach, you can tell by just how fast your going and hear the engine"
...just to help you out here, you don't want to 'lug' the engine either. I watch the tach like a hawk when I am cruising around town. I have some steep hills here to...
3 and 4 color desert camo
I have a dream of one day owning a duece that I have done up in the 3 or 4 color desert camo. It seems these trucks done that way come from National Guard units of the Southwest, like NM and AZ. Here are some sample pics of that scheme.
shifting
1) yeah once in awhile folks here mention about head gasket leaks but I think that is just because the trucks are old and sat a lot so the gaskets maybe got dry and brittle. 2) this video may help you... watch his foot on the thottle, he comes off the throttle pedal when he pushes in...
you have long journey, grasshopper.
This scares me, "I am the furthest thing from mechanically inclined when it comes to vehicles", but I know you can prevail. Ditto what was said above, find somebody that has one, learn from them about the vehicle and how to drive it. If you look at the...
2nd gear woodruff key
From reading on here, I do not start from a stop with trans in second gear, high range, as I have read threads on here at least twice about this. It seems a woodruff key holds the 2nd gear to it's shaft and the 'load' of starting the truck from a dead stop can shear this...
Road taxes not income taxes
Let me get back to ya after I check with my friend in Missouri, he has been running WMO in a VW jetta for a couple years and I believe he keeps a log with him on miles driven and road taxes he sends in to the state. Asking the IRS seems to be a turn down the wrong...
road draft tube
I use clear plastic tubing from Lowe's to get that blow-by 'smoke' to come out lower to the ground. You can measure the metal part on the engine to see what internal diameter you need. It's either 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" ID. I think you need 2.5' of it to have it come down to the...
scrap metal
That is sad to hear. I can understand not selling whole uparmored vehicles but gee whiz, like you said, they should sell some of the parts. Would you clarify one item that you mentioned... the cut up steel and iron is going to a landfill? Do you mean that tons of good iron and...
atf
what is it doing, problem?
my current truck got from GL and fuel system was all gummed up from non-usage by the air force reserve unit it was in, fuel turned to brown goo. It would either; not start, or if if did would go to full throttle. I did what a diesel mechanice advised me and it...
modern folk, do not buy a duece.
There are a couple parades a year I do out of town where I run 55 mph to get there. The truck though sounds really happy at 40 mph on a flat road with a tailwind. I look at it like these trucks were built to live on dirt roads and max out at 40 mph doing their...
berry interesting......
outlaw86er
thanks for posting the pics of the KW lead truck.
I imagine that that rig has huge planetary gear sets in the hubs so that the preceding drive train components are not so stressed. I wonder if all three axles are driven.
