Is it possible that on your avatar and description area, you would be able to list what city or county you are located in FL so another SS deuce owner may help you face to face? The winch takes at least 2 people to operate with one in the cab and one on the winch controls.
Cranking and getting...
full flow of the 24 volts
Thanks fellers. I will try this tomorrow as I have one bad battery and am waiting on a replacement. I am just amazed that hooking cables up to one battery as M16ty states, will really work without messing up my daily driver. Makes no sense to me that a 12 volt...
Thanks guys, I thought CUCV's were totally 24volt throughout and I also forgot that they have two alternators.
So with my Toyota, I can't really jump start the deuce, I would have to disconnect the cable linking the deuce batteries in series and just ' charge' each battery individually with...
Jumping a 24 volt system with a 12 volt system
I have a set of jumper cables that are 6 or 4 gauge wire, cant remember, but
over the years, I have had about 4 instances where people could not get a vehilce jumped using their 'cheap' jumper cables and I go over and put mine on there and it...
I started on mine with the RAPCO rattle cans but it has been too cold and too windy. Got in an hour of painting this weekend and 1 hour last weekend. It is my understanding one needs at least 55 degrees temp farenheit for good results. What was your outside temp when you were painting with...
Welcome to the famblee!
I have a 1987 M35A2c, it sat side by side for years at Peterson AFB here in town next to steelandcanvas' truck. Our VINs are 2 digits apart.
My VIN starts off with 87K1773...........
What I pick up from reading on this here site everyday for a little over 5 years, seems...
No M920 photos in this set?
In pic 6 showing the rear articulation....where is the springs or shocks? Is it just a torsion bar back there are sumthin? Just curious. Thanks for posting the pics.
similar story
I won a deuce off GL that came out of the air force at Peterson AFB and the fuel system was in terrible shape.
The fuel tank had about 1 inch thick of brown goo on the bottom of it and all the fuel filters were just full of this brown gooo. I changed all the filters but evidently...
paint
just posting this in case it helps. I went on the advice of Bulldogmack13, he has painted quite a few military trucks in his driveway and they look great. I started two days ago on my deuce, putting on some of the paint I obtained from RAPCO parts company in TX, but weather is not...
Model Recovery?
Congrats on your truck. I am working on my 2nd go around with getting a deuce from its sevice life retirement, to parade quality. I think about mine all the time too. What a great hobby. The way you went about your recovery and then working on getting it roadworthy instead...
hey toto look at dis
wow! my birfplace was St. Louis and I served a 45 yr term there,
but hey, looking at the background of your pics, you got some steelsoldiers,
there, dawg. Cool! Tanks for posting the pics.
The parts interchange. There are previous threads about this same topic of which is the most dependable (just like Ford or Chev, Blondes or Brunettes). I had a continental engine in my first truck, 1970 AM General but now have a white in my '87 AM General. I think if you baby em, they all...
Welcome. Truck looks great. It sure does help to have others to hang out with who are in the hobby. To get up to speed, just keep reading on this site. Maybe check out the sites for; memphis equipment, saturn surplus, rapco, and jantonka's site to see stuff you may wish to purchase to add to...
info just in case it helps ya. I painted my first deuce with the krylon camoflague paint from walmart. It looked real good. I am painting my 2nd deuce with the 383 colors from Rapco. I have not sprayed yet but supposedly that paint looks much better and authentic. Best of luck to ya!
one heck of a hauler
I looked at that trailer, as GL sent me an email about stuff at auction including that thang. Looking at the pics was cool, seeing the pics of the built in snatch blocks and cable rollers. I hope you post pics in the future of it and how you use it. Congrats!
bridge weight plate
A M35a2 deuce and a half would have the numbers displayed '08' and with the M105 attached to it, '13'. I think that is what I have seen.
If the deuce weighs 6.5 tons empty and is carrying its 2.5 offroad load, that equals 8 tons. Cool.... but with the trailer...
no sharp turns is the key?
I flat towed mine a couple months back and to get it out of a tight parking spot and out the yard gate where it was sitting with other vehicles, we had to make a sharp turn. It did what you said, tires turned opposite way we wanted to go. Once we got out on the...
