Check out my avatar, I just built this 2.5 ton, and got to drive it for about one month before it sold a few weeks ago. I was think about doing a 5 ton next, but they are just to big for me, I like to drive mine around town and you get all kind of looks and thumbs up. Mine had A/C and power...
Well guys, truck just left for Texas a couple of hours ago. The new owner is very happy, he is driving it home. I wanted to drive it some more at least for the summer, but I couldn't pass on the offer. Hopefully I can build another one someday. :-D
Welcome
Dave is watching over Drexel, and another guy who works with him, I forgot his name, but both are super nice to deal with. They travel over from dayton, OH. I did buy a fully loaded M1028 out of there last year about this time, but you don't see many. I am just down the road in...
That would be a long truck, try to find a M36 as chicklin said, it will save you alot of time and headache, I think the have a 20' bed. But they are harder to come by and cost more. If you don't need the extra length, I would stay away from it. My wheebase is about 1' longer than a stock 6x6. I...
Well I kept track of my hours and my helper hours, it added up to 215 hours. That included pulling the donor cab of and striping it. But it sure didn't count all those 2 am brain farts about how could I do this or, that would look cool. The A/C took about 12 hours to do, the hard top is proably...
There is a link in a few pages back to where i got it. Bracket was custom made of course, nothing for creature comforts is made to fit these trucks. The A/C compresser is a tight fit up on the engine. We have been in a cold spell around here for awhile so I haven't got to use it much.
I have new ones in stock, you can give me a call, here is a link to the air horn.
M35A2 NEW DUAL AIR HORN COMPLETE 2.5 TON MS51301-1:eBay Motors (item 200359821031 end time Aug-04-09 06:03:55 PDT)
I am stocking a full line of new parts now for these trucks
I have been driving this truck everywhere, and its amazing the attention it gets. The frame sits about 1.5" taller in the back, which I think is fine. Looks like I am going to have to insulate the floor boards, I thought I might, The A/C unit will keep up until about 85 degrees, then after that...
I have a couple of 814's I need to pull from up there, I normally haul my trucks back, I only live about 50 miles away. I have a new 1710 joint in stock for $35, and may be able to get you the other stuff. If I can I will PM you
You won't change anything with flipping the hubs on the rear because the wheels will track the same front or rear I should know because I make them. The tires will touch the bed at full articulation, but it does not hurt anything. As for you hitting the inner fenders, I have not had that...
