You should be able to tie in the returns. Just make sure the line from the junction is large enough to handle both flows or you'll create a restriction. That can lead to PS system overheating and the relief valve not being able to do it's job properly.
Mighty fine work there, Stuart.
Those outrigger pads look so good it's hard to believe I had a hand in making them.
Your workmanship is second to none.
Hello Mike,
I'm all but completely healed from my set-to with a sheet of 1/2" steel plate and back in the saddle.
Ordered Morse cables for the throttle, shift and t-case controls. Wiring harnesses are complete but need to be installed and connected to lights, engine controls and etc.
Ended...
Looks like almost all of the rear/rear are, Rory. 2 1/2 vs. 5 ton must be mostly in the springs/suspension. Could also be 'military math'-- two 2 1/2 ton axles equals one 5 ton.
Some but not all are for the intermediate/rear are because of the way it's driven. i.e. the blind-nosed differential...
Rory,
It looks like the front axles are the same but the part numbers for the rear, intermediate and rear, rear axles are off by one digit and one letter. RS-12611-NSFS-11-780 for the LMTV rear vs. RR-15611-NSFS-11-780 for the rear, rear on the MTVs.
Intermediate rears are completely different...
Bjorn,
I've had the best luck with a paint designed for high traffic areas like walkways and concrete shop floors. The non-slip additive goes on under the final top coat.
There are two non-slip additives to choose from; one is grit of your choice- be it sand, aluminum oxide or whatever.
The...
If you're in for an inspection make it as easy for them as possible. Locate the VIN on the frame and make sure it's clearly legible (I take a rubbing of the number, and border it with a lumber crayon).
Make sure you have all the necessary paperwork in hand and filled out correctly.
In...
The crane base looks like it's at least 1/4" plate. Add that to the thickness of the channel or angle iron or plate under-floor reinforcement and the floor sheetmetal and you've hit 1/2" thickness total.
My own set-up is decked with 1/4" diamond plate + floor sheet thickness + 1/4" under floor...
When I built the spare tire crane for the baby HEMTT, this is how I strengthened the mount. The plate runs from the tie-in at the pass. side frame sub-rail frame to the outside edge of the bed and from the sheet-metal 'apron' under the headboard to the front face of the first bed crossmember...
Ahh, we live and learn.
I'll show you Mount Bad-idea when you're in town. It's a mountain of first, second and third attempts out back of the shop. But I'm sure learning what doesn't work.
Beautiful work, Stuart! I think I may need to start taking lessons from you.
The cranes don't seem to park dead level so I wouldn't sweat it.
Someday, those high sides and tailgate just may deflect a tree branch that otherwise would have taken out a hydraulic hose or spun the crane on it's...
I'm pretty sure these are trailer cables but unsure as to the different numbers and lengths. One is about a foot or so longer than the other.
Both are NOS but dirty from shelf storage.
Metal tag on one is marked: 19207 67247-CX. Mfr is 6S406 (BARCAR Mfg. Inc.)
Other cable is tagged: 19207...
Check out beltfed34 (Austin Aviation) on ebay. He has LED stuff pretty often.
Some might need a little clean-up or straightening but his descriptions are always accurate.
My primary voltage is 12vdc and an EMCU-116 takes that and turns it into 24vdc for accessory needs. Haven't needed 120vac yet. Certainly cheaper than 3K.
I've got a magnetic base trouble light that plugs into the NATO sockets. Real handy for road repairs when juggling a flashlight isn't what...
A process used on irregular surfaces is called "pad-printing". It's basically an automated rubber stamp. A lot of containers are marked this way.
If you research the process; seeing how it works might give you some ideas to adapt it to your needs.
ranger.41 is right on both counts.
Always secure the hood when it's open-- especially if you're working on the engine. Hoods, not secured, can and have injured or killed people by falling on them.
I'm a fan of fuel shut-off set-ups... inline ball valve, engine stop lock-outs, etc.
You can start a diesel without batteries but you sure can't start one without fuel.
Doghead's right, the Fastenal link will take you to the correct nuts for the driveshaft bolts.
Since there is no "driving tab" on the u-joint flanges, the bolts have to carry the entire load. Grade 8 for sure.
