My comments about biodiesel come from experience and from the comments of employees of a large "burn the bean" biodiesel plant close to me. They deal with the corrosive properties daily according to the workers who talked with me. Biodiesel also likes to chew away at some kinds of polymers in...
It is my experience they can spin backwards. For one experience of this I had used the 45,000 on my wrecker to tip a stump over after digging around it with a backhoe. I left the winch hooked to it and went to low-low gears to pull the stump out of the hole and over to a dump area. The winch...
Yes, the governor portion at the front of the pumps are lubricated by engine oil but the actual parts handling the fuel flow are not. The new low sulfur diesel will not properly lubricate the pump head parts and the injector parts. The best thing to do in my experience is to use Lucas fuel...
I do not think the 9.00x20 tires were standard issue for this truck anyway, too small. Someone must have changed them. The 9.00x20 typically are on the deuces. It should have 11.00x20. You can find a good set of the military tread tires easily.

We add Marvel Mystery oil and Lucas fuel conditioner to our fuel. This prevents rust and also helps prevent carburetor corrosion from the current cruddy quality alcohol content fuels. Your full tank idea is also good.

I agree with Evil Dr, Porkchop. It appears to be a sound trailer, little rust. The smaller ones like this, as opposed to the M105 1 1/2 ton heavier model used behind the deuce and 5 ton, go for more than the M105's. If it looks good to you, I think the price is not too far out given you do not...
Not everyone gets to acquire a vehicle they liked as a younger person. Good to see you got it! Welcome to the site! We help all we can either on here or with private messages. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I tell you all of the below because of my experience and my...
Very interesting, thanks for the post and pictures. I remember my days with an M 135 towing heavy loads and plowing snow. foot on the floor a lot, working the transmission shift lever between hilly and level to keep upshifts from happening too soon. That engine and transmission took a beating...
My son was very frustrated getting cut out when filling out documents. We found it was a setting on the computer, For Windows 7 go to Control Panel, System and Security, click Power Options, click change when the computer sleeps. Use the two pull-downs and there you can change the length of...
We rebuilt the engine for a Deere 4x4 tractor for a friend. They bought aftermarket parts for us to use, including a new cam and lifters. After a few days of use the nose broke off the cam. The whole cam was very brittle, poor material or heat treat. Working on major repair on engines in these...
Your decision on what to do with the wheel cylinders will be established when you get them off and check the bores. If they are not pitted in critical cup contact areas and can be honed out nicely than you are good to rebuild. A bit of rust pitting in the very center of the cylinder where the...
I suggest finding a Motors Truck Repair Manual of the age era of the truck. It will have detailed instructions. You can probably find one at a library or online like Ebay.
We have found that yes, injector health is important. We have also had trucks that did not want to start right until we turned up the fuel. We go way beyond what many say on here is dangerous with no problems with good gasket sets but if you are afraid to do it too much, turn it up until you get...
Seeing that you already have been pulling a trailer I assume you resolved your concerns about 12 volt trailer lights with a 24 volt truck. If not I can say we use voltage converters, 24 to 12, to feed the trailer system. Cat and other suppliers have them. I also went so far as to put a double...
I am definitely not a fan of pressure caps on older vehicles including my M series trucks. Most of them have tall and/or wide radiator tanks, lots of surface area there to move in and out as pressure rises and falls. This action weakens and fails the tank metal and the solder joints, causing...
Any of these trucks will go through more snow and mud with singles on the rear instead of duals. The hubs are reversed on the axles depending if the truck was made for singles or duals. Reversed the wheel seating face on the hub is farther out to get a wider stance with the singles. The singles...
Your choice might be according to your mechanical knowledge. The 900 series are more complicated electrically, etc. than the M35A2 deuces and other M series trucks. If you do not have experience with more modern systems, you will end up probably having to pay someone who does to work on it. If...
