The sensor is on the block where lead number 6 is hooked up.
Testing that part of the system is covered in the electrical troubleshooting of TM9-2320-289-34.pdf

Not on a CUCV, but a truck at work that was missing some teeth on the flywheel, produced a whining sound when you turned the ignition switch to start and it didn't engage. Might be worth checking.

Several diameters are used. The TM's would tell you which and where they go.

At the bottom of the Filter Comparison.pdf the OP started an important column, labeled gasket ID, but didn't finish it. Gaskets with an ID in the 60 mm range work for my 4770 base. Here are a couple options from that list that will fit, have water separator and relatively low micron rating...

I manually flushed my brake fluid, I had "yellow" DOT 5, replaced it with "purple" DOT 5.

From the "-20 P" TM, part number is 14067701. GM discontinued this part. Replacement sources: contact SS vendors, people parting out CUCV's, wtb post as said before, etc.

If your MV ownership experience is similar to most, mine included, those two problems are the first of many.
The good news is most of them have been solved and the solution documented here and found by using the search function or looking in the CUCV...

Yep, as I wrote in post #3, that pic. was taken during spindle removal so the small seal had already come off and the dust seal was later replaced, here is a close up same pic. and the bronze/spacer washer is visible, dirty but there. [thumbzup]
