Number 6? Temperature sensor for the glow plug system.

The sensor is on the block where lead number 6 is hooked up. Testing that part of the system is covered in the electrical troubleshooting of TM9-2320-289-34.pdf Good luck.

Not on a CUCV, but a truck at work that was missing some teeth on the flywheel, produced a whining sound when you turned the ignition switch to start and it didn't engage. Might be worth checking. Good luck, happy holidays!
