I am having the same problem with AIG. When I tried to add my M1028 to my policy. The VIN confused them and when I tried to explain on the phone it just got worse with them saying "no, we can't insure that" over and over. But, they had NO PROBLEM accepting my M1009. I didn't mention the...
The mount that you have is for the SINCGARS family of radios.
Check out this link, it will give you a better idea of what you have:

Since it is current communications equipment it is difficult / expensive. The antenna elements...
We can all agree that it does not sound good .. the fire would certainly qualify as an indicator that something was wrong.
Hopefully one of the cheerful and helpfull SS dudes can stop by and eyeball the situation.
Sorry to hear about the problem ... on the other hand, be sure to let us know...
The photos that I provided are of the tie downs on my 1985 M1028 - the military is nothing if not consistent in its inconsistency. This may indicate that there was a mod or upgrade at some point. I'm guessing the extension of the horizontal piece was for a better tie down angle? Perhaps they...
Follow this url. This guy did a nice job of research and includes tool specs, photos, etc. No reason to re-invent the wheel in this case.
Generally speaking (and there are always variations, modifications, etc.) the tool rack held a "D" handled shovel, single bit axe and a mattock with handle...
Congratulations on your new toy! Looks like it is in great shape. Now we are all waiting for the photos when you have it up and running .... soooo .... where are they?
If I had more room in my driveway I'd like to have one to play with, but I'm maxed out right now. My neighbors keep giving me...
I have the 246 in my M1009 with the remote control boxes mounted on the dash bracket along with a speaker. I used both radios, along with many many others over the years in the Army and Marines. As was noted earlier, you need a ham license to operate them and then only a limited band.
I'm in the...
I don't know if they changed the design of the "brace" that ran from the horizontal piece to the top of the bed rail, or if the illustration on page 10-52 just looks different. I think the angle of the drawing is different and gives a slightly skewed perspective from the actual photographs...
I've been pleased with my dealings with Pvt. Jarhead in the past. The price is about mid-range for that model. You'll need a vehicle mount, handset (or mike) and antenna. Down load the manuals from the technical manual section...
Seems that it is my turn to be stumped by a couple of bumper numbers on my new toys.
The pioneer trailer is marked: 77C(?) (could be a 2nd letter or just rust) and 306E (306th Engineers I would assume). The person I bought it form got it from DRMO (yes that long ago) in New Jersey. However...
maddawg, I doubt that anyone would notice, (but) medics actually belong to HQ Company and are assigned to the line companies. I have this itch in the back of my mind that says that the ambulance would actually have HHC numbers for the vehicle (HHC12, rather than B12) - anyone have an ambulance...
Here are some photos of the rear tied downs. Hopefully they will give you a better idea of what is involved. Check with some of the dealers and see if they have any take offs. The large vertical piece is heavy steel and bolts to the bed as shown in the TM.
TM 9-2320-289-20 pages 10-52-54 shows the components of the M1028 shelter tie-downs with illustrations.
If you want photos and dimensions let me know and I'll see about measuring the big tie down piece in the rear and taking some photos.
Red, white and blue NEVER clash with any shade of green. The American flag goes with green iron regardless of the paint job. Da Frog done good .. even though the rockers managed to hang on in the back.
;)
If anyone has one of these that they aren't going to turn in to scrap, I have a full set of the manuals for this rig in .pdf. If there is any interest I'll post them to the reference section.
I'd like a running one, but my driveway is full ... may have to move in the near future.
:)
RE: Re: MV Insurance in NJ .... grrrrrrr!!!!
Thanks for the input and suggestions - interestingly to (to respond to the first input from CCATLETT1984) I currently have AIG and they insured my M1009 with no problem (as a green Chevy blazer of course). But the VIN on the M1028 caused their little...
The GOOD news is: I now have an M1028 Shelter Carrier with M250 Electronic Equipment Shelter, a former RATT Rig minus the radios, modems, etc.
The bad news is that my current insurance carrier won't insure it. Initially the phone clerk said that the vin was no good. I explained that it was...
