Frame attachment for the 5-ton is taller than the 2-1/2 ton frame, will take some mods there and you will need the forward bell crank. Otherwise, that will be a LOT of steering gear for a deuce...
Jared, that capacity data is bad wrong. Those numbers are for full drums not listed capacity.
Zebedee, consider drilling from the side under the trolley axle. That has more meat, better access, and (for your little engineering mind) less stress than the proposed side drilling. That area is...
Guys, here is the current skinny. I will get to inspect the engines for obvious rusting. Trying to start them will not be in the plan. What has been presented is $1500 for a Mil-Overhaul, add $450 for a can. (It seems this find has a better market for the cans than the engines. What are they...
You are correct, never drilled for that zerk. The LO does not call out a lube for that fitting.
I have found that once you get the rope guide sheave repaired that using gear oil from the top side, soak the felt, will drain through and lube the thrust balls and the needles.
Been doing that...
reloader64......DO NOT GO THERE, that is a need to know basis and none of us need to know any more........
For identification:
Georgia Rally Shirts for those that have them, the SS presence needs to be realized.
I should be hearing from him some time next week with a cost.
My anticipation is to open any can that does not indicate the preservative is intact and look for that rust and for evidence of proper storage lubrication.
If the "if we can get it for"price is good, we will coordinate funds...
Good information, but an I just getting old or are the pictures of the fuel control lever back-wards? Like reversed? THE fuel control rod should go to the right.
Someone please either clarify for me or tell me that is just the way it is..........
Guys, (& Gals), I have come across a possible opportunity to purchase some LDT-1D engines. They are late 80's to early 90's overhauls, complete with starter, compressor and alternator. Indications are that I can get possibly 10 engines. At this time I do not have any clue what the current...
OK, back to the original topic. No one that I have ever encountered has attempted to remove the air shift cylinder and replace it with a manual control lever. The 5-ton sprag shift just does not give much problem. If you replace it with a lever, that is a shift that will have to be manually...
I dunna know about that...new parts can bring bad habits to the old girls, kinda make them wanna have bunches of new parts. Be real careful there.
Besides, we all know that things get better with time...
Poppop, you know that Little Truck will require that you bring the new 37 to the rally, that way with Zout's 43 we can have our own little truck convoy......
Please let us know if we can help. Between the wonders of CAMO and Zouts magic wand, most anything is possible.
Maddawg308 is absolutely correct. Either the hitch or the eye must be able to move, otherwise the trailer tongue or the hitch attachment will have to flex and that is not good. This is typical of over the road applications not for our off-road usage.
Now, if the ring and the hitch are not...
Just curious, what is the duty cycle of a 6.7L at that kind of power? Do you measure it in seconds or minutes or just really low percentages?
CraneTruck had a real neat comparison a few years ago on duty cycles for these newer high output engines.
Need more information.
Got any fuel?
How long since ran?
Have you ever seen or heard it run?
Strong batteries?
In tank pump working?
Filters purged?
Fuel shut off plunger free?
Fuel control free under the cover at the plunger?
ETC
Shawn,
So, in your state there is no problem exceeding the GCVWR of a vehicle.
Here in GA if you exceed the ratings (GVW or GCVW) you are considered as overloaded and then given a nice award for that ($$$). (Not to mention being possibly sidelined till the weight is corrected.)
So why are...
Guys, they are the secondary tie downs. They are rated at 10,000# each. Not lift points but tie-down only.
Hopefully the attached page from the transportability guidance manual will cover this.
