My New Project - 1942 Ford GPW

Watched my back today while painting the frame to make sure aliens did not sneak up on me. Thanks for the warning Zout. Weather broke long enough to paint but I do have to flip it to touch up the frame bottom.

value of restored original MB vs. restored MB with repro body

It totally depends on the owner or the buyer. When I restore my vehicles I attempt to go with the original parts if at all possible. That includes repairing anything I physically can using the original specification such as metal gauge, paints, whatever. Most important to me is to preserve...

Please don't let PB use his Garmin. Every year on the way to the GA Rally he throws it out the window. Then he goes back to get it. Go Figure?

My New Project - 1942 Ford GPW

I have been working on recovering images on my 1942 GPW. I was successful in uncovering my blue drab hood number and have made attempts on my bumperettes since my front bumper was gone when I purchased the vehicle. I used the same paint stripping method as the hood number but have only been able...

My New Project - 1942 Ford GPW

Yoeri, I tried several methods to cover my hood number. On my WC-51 I tried light sanding, gentle media blasting with glass beads and finally paint stirpper. I found the best method to be using a thick paint stripper applied with a brush in a medium coat. I did not try to do the whole side of...

1942 MB my newest project. Jeep Guru needed.

My recore estimate was $650 for a local San Antonio shop. That was the lowest and my radiator was in pretty decent shape. I ended up buying a reproduction from Brent Mullins Jeep Parts in College Station, Texas. I was around $450. I looked everywhere and it was about the same and higher...

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

I agree with WM. Your attention to detail stands in a class all by yourself. I consider myself to be a detail person but I could not hold the proverbial candle to you. Great job.

For overall quality I would recommend Midwest Military. You can find them online and John Bizal is good to work with. Also, Ron Fitzpatrick and VintageJeeps.com is also super to work with and has good pricing. Free shipping on most items until the end of the month. Good luck.
