Great get together. Sorry I had to leave, Dumpster wend down hard with an engine problem and fellow SS recovery was urgent.
I fully support having demos of equipment, mules, trucks, winching etc. COUNT ME IN.
Lastly, I really appreciate the kind words about Squirt, the trophy is GREAT, but...
Please note that inthe excerpt from FMCSA that DieselBob provided, there is no reference to air brakes. That is a state added item NOT a Fed requirement. For what it is worth, the FED does define air boosted hydraulic brakes as AIR BRAKES.
Being even more basic,
The 813 is a 5-ton and the M-35 is a 2-1/2 ton. The 5-tons are 50% more weight, with twice the load capacity, and handle crudely as compared with the 2-1/2. The 2-1/2 ton is a sports car and the 5-ton is clumsy big oaf. (And yes I can say this......)
Roughly twice the fuel...
What happened to the possible convoy from Canton?
I am coming from Marietta, we need some "traveling support" for this event.
I am so afraid to be on the open road in little Squirt......
Jimma,
Confirm that this is scheduled for the Saturday before Memorial Day?
I will see what I can do about getting Squirt there, hopefully we will meet on the 7th at the GTG in Blueridge.
If schedules work out Squirt will be coming through Canton headed to the AO early on the 7th. We might even be able to get Dumpster to hook up when we pass through Jasper.
Cool.
Try using a muzzle cover from a 105mm gun. They are OD canvas with a draw string.
I have used one of these for years to cap Squirts pipe. They will blow off if you forget......
Big piston (ALL) pistons should move freely. I use a cylinder hone for the air piston bore, a brake hones for the small pistons. The little air piston gets a fine honing with a dowel rod and fine crocus cloth.
Be sure of the clearances, return stroke, the service fluid side of the slave...
211 is correct. the slave cylinder in the air-pack is not returning fully, either is binding or is being blocked by ???.
If the air piston to rod connection is not the proper length then the slave can not return past the bleed hole and relieve the pressure to the MC.
Does your air-pack not...
With a sprag case you should never get any binding forward or backward.
What you are describing sounds like you have a broken forward sprag race. This is not uncommon, the outer race cracks, it will feel like it locks but under load will spread the crack and slip.
The only way to really tell is...
So, what is the answer if there is not enough clearance between the inner rear tires and the springs for chains? We have two trucks here that have the same issue, both with 11:00's on stock wheels.
