I ran 55 to 70psi in mine on the stock rims. It's real common for a shimmy to develop after switching to 395's, that may be your problem. The fix is to adjust the caster. A couple of good threads...
I can run 72-74 mph, I disconnected the overspeed light and turned the governer springs up. Check the 5 ton hotroding section for a thread called bumping the power on the Cummins 6CTA
Hubs flipped or not, rims dish in or dish out is all a preference thing. Its a lot of heavy work to flip the hubs. One thing about not flipping the hubs and running dish out, no the tires don't track in the same groove. But that's a plus if your going into deep mud, the rears will get fresh...
5 ton rating on a M939 series truck refers to off road, it's 10 tons on road. But as these MV's are extremely over built it's common to see them well past the military's rated payload. Not that I'm condoning it . It'll defenitly hold 2x what you haul in your M35.
water is close to 7lbs...
22-25 psi easily, 30-32 psi if I really push it. When you start turning it up, at a point it a 1/4 turn makes a lot of difference, and changes the heat and boost settings a lot
I sold bonedoc a M35a2 and before he drove it home he put lock outs on it. He drove from NC to PA and said he got 8 mpg average!!
Truck had previously had all injectors pulled, cleaned, and reset above spec, fresh repack on wheel bearings and brakes adjusted, and 395 tires.
The front axle doesn't get a cork seal or rtv in the keyway cause there is no gear oil present out at the knuckle. There is a axle shaft seal at the end of the tube, you see it after removing the knuckle and axle shaft.
There is also no outer seal for the bearings for the same reason.
My M923A2 runs 72mph, it ran 65 before I turned the governer up. Acceleration gets better with turning up the pump up slightly. I 2nd the advice about buying one from a dealer or individual instead of GL, lots can be wrong with them that they won't tell you. Also the 8.3L cummins rocks, don't...
Yes I've been turning up the fuel in it. I had turned the fuel up slightly before the guage install and it was topping out at 1050*f. Now I've about got it where I want it and it's maxing at a little over 1200*f and has lots better power and smoke.
The guages work well but I wish I had just bought 2 of the Auberins guages as I've found I read the numbers faster than the guage. The EGT guage I removed the turbo to aid in cleaning after the drilling and tapping. The boost sensor, I removed the pipe to aid in install.
The lights I bought...
I just installed some new guages and lights. The guages I bought off Amazon and we're 12 volt. I decided to install a 12 and 24 volt fuse panel were the CTIS valve used to be to make all my wiring easier. I used the CTIS switched power to trigger a relay so I had 12 volts switched on when in...
Why??? I thought the transfer case just couldn't handle the reduction of reverse in low? It's not like it's shifting in the t-case under acceleration. What was worrying me was the upshifts, it was really lunging every time it shifted. It hadn't done that before I turned the pump up.
I turned...
Hey nevrenufhp or anyone else, what has been your experience with the allison as far as holding up behind a turned up 8.3? Have you retro fitted any other Trans behind it and had better luck?
