Does the deuce and 5 ton use the same bows? I have run up on a set of eight bows with fiberglass vertical parts. These vertical pieces are over five feet tall. It looks like they were used without troop seats, what vehicle would use these? If I ever get my wrecker home I wonder it they would...
Is there a quick - down and dirty test for batteries. I run up on piles of batteries pulled out of vehicles all the time is there a quick way of seeing if they are salavagable?

One problem I was unable to remedy while I was at Ft.Bragg, the accelerator pedal does not return when you let off the gas. I sprayed Silikroil all over the linkage still it would not return, you could pull it back up with the tip of your boot and it would stay up but it would not return on...
Absolutely Right! I told my wife the trip over seemed a lot longer than the trip back, buying something as large and complex as a 40 year old wrecker without inspection can leave a lot of room for doubts and worry until you actually put your hands on it. I wish I had now stayed on Friday...
It will be coming home next week if I can get the shipper to call me back, good prices but their customer contact stinks! If Friday wasn't a holiday for US government workers it would be here now! While at Ft.Bragg I hit up a couple of truckers about back hauling through Arkansas, $1000 cash...
It was a fast trip, 17 hours to get there Wed., got there two hours later than I had hoped, spent two hours draining water from the fuel and air system. Spent another two hours finding and replacing oil and antifreeze, the truck had been drained. The GL guys were great easy access and helpful...
I am back. 34 hours of driving for 4.5 hours of working on the truck, but well worth it. Truck started up on the second try of the button, all main fluids were drained so I spent two hours collecting and filling. I will post photos Sat.

Starting the drive to Ft. Bragg this morning, hopefully 15-16 hours from now I will be at the gate. Just reallized yesterday, Friday is a national holiday! Since it falls on Sat. they are pulling it forward for those who get it off. Of couse all federal employees do so Ft. Bragg will be...
I am planning on putting this one back to it's original condition if I can find out what that was, I have a 3kW generator for it already.

PS: Are you going to be able to make it to Bragg Thursday or Friday???

I think you have a couple of pieces missing, mine has gas can top with a two piece pickup tube that screws together then screws into the bottom of the cap, the cap has a right angle fitting coming out of it to attach the gas line to the genset.

I measured by cover it is for a Deuce, it's the new rubberized cover in three color camo, in great condition, anyone want to swap, I need the long one for my 543a2 I think?

AM sorry to hear that, I was hoping to meet you in the flesh! I appreciate all your advice and I will take a lot of pictures! I hope all I need is a couple of good batteries to get her started. After all the headlights are still there and from what I have found if a vehicle has been used...
Just keep looking for someone hauling through your area, it took me about two weeks but I am down to $1.63 on a guy deadheading back from the East coast.

Jason:
Which ones should I replace immediately? I know I should inspect then replace, but this truck has been sitting for at least a year. I am going to take an airtank to blow the fuel lines out, what about the fuel tank, I know they don't want you to drain anything, I may take an extra gas...
I am heading over to Ft. Bragg this Wed. taking a load of tools, I intend buying my fluids when I get there vs. carring the weight across the county. Filters, where is the best place to buy filters for a Multifuel, where do I find the part numbers, are they off the shelf parts or should I order...
I am off tomorrow I will call around to see what I can find. Jason next time you ship give me a call, these guys have a ton of truck traveling back to Little Rock on a regular basis.
