I've noticed that if the speedo and tach are a matched set you should be able to divide the milage by the hours and come out somewhere between 32-36 (mph). I realize there are other factors that could change this outcome but this seems to be the average that I've come across

Half the ones I bought are nos or new production and they seem fine when compared to each other
You'll also want to check the hard (steel) lines to, I just replaced the main fwd and aft (5/16th) steel lines as I went to put a wrench on the rear one and it just broke off in my hand
The hood star is centered but it should be far enough forward on the hood so that it would still clearly visible with the windshield folded down, The ( folded down) windshield shouldn't block out any part of the star
If I remember right 16" stars on the door and 20" on the hood. *On post WWII vehicles the point of the star on the hood faces the windshield
