    Ellsworth Deuce Recovery

We spent the night in Mitchel SD. It got dark on us and down to 10 degrees, we decided to call it a day. No leaks, the old girl pulled out of the Missouri River valley without losing a gear, it was close though. We were gaining fast on the two trucks that passed us in the bottom. They blew us...

    Ellsworth Deuce Recovery

I made a few laps around the GL lot in 1st and 2nd gear, the brakes were good enough to lock up the tires and pull down the engine in 1st gear. It appears to have a brand new spare "Titan" with nine like new Titans on the ground. It has one off brand tire that appears close to new as well on the...

    Ellsworth Deuce Recovery

I checked the transmission level and it was right on the money. Karl hopped in and gave her a cranking over. The old girl was rolling white smoke and trying, but just did not take off. She had been there since October of 2009. We gave the starter a break and hit at again with the flame heater...

    Ellsworth Deuce Recovery

Today we had to wait a few hours, that is okay as it was about 12 below last night. The M1008 started this morning with no heat... A Colorado bunch had 11 M35A3s to load up at a different location, so Ray was bust this morning. We managed to get our security pass and screening through and made...

    Ellsworth Deuce Recovery

I got up early Monday morning and set sail for Ellsworth to grab my deuce. I stopped to get a soda and hit the road. I stopped at the Nebraska Border and the South Dakota Border at Yankton. Karl Kostman came down from Fargo North Dakota and met me at Deuceman 51's compound. We drooled there for...

    Ellsworth AFB South Dakota storage

I got the truck loaded, swapped out the fuel filter just in case, packed my bags and am about ready for bed. I am posting up in the event anybody has anything up there at Ellsworth that I can transport south or east. I should be there tomorrow night, spend the night in a motel, then head for...

    Ellsworth AFB South Dakota storage

He made this offer to me last week and I am going to Ellsworth Tuesday, actually plan to stop in Rapid City or close by for a motel room, then to get the deuce Tuesday. I may have a fay to kill as Ray has 11 trucks leaving from the other Rapid City facility Tuesday. He hoped we could get in, if...

Pass side alt must not be too important...

When I was at Riley yesterday, my son called. "Dad, the Blazer will not start" ...... great, get 60 miles from home and he has truck trouble. When I got back, the passenger's belt was loose, the battery was about dead and the post adapters on that battery were loose as well. I stuck the charger...

What is a truck without a trailer..

Need any small parts, let me know! We have one to crush, price is right, it is on your way home... I think ours has new air pots, lights reflectors, hoses, pigtail, probably brakes and bearings..... I know one day I am going to wish we had saved it. Glen

Ft. Riley - Get an M116 trailer off post

They did not have two inches of snow on the ground, about what we had and the wind blew most of that away!

What do you use your deuce for?

I think I bought mine so I could look at the pictures and wish it was home.... Glen

An adventure to record for posterity, you did it safely though and that is what matters most. We need a trip like that once in a while to make us enjoy the easy ones. Glen

    Pulling M105 Trailer, Modified

I have to agree, after towing a M105 behind my M1008, I was surprised how heavy that little chunk of a trailer really is. The M1008 handled it pretty well, but I was still kind of surprised. I pulled trailers 1000s of miles, maybe it is the slop in the hitch design. Glen

Ft. Riley - Get an M116 trailer off post

Today was the day! I got up at 0530, it was -10 degrees, the M1008 was waiting in the driveway, with no heat.... I went out and after cycling the plugs, it cranked up and died, crap! Turned the key back to start and it fired up again and smoothed right out. That is okay, I did not want to start...

454 will replace multi fuel in m35a2?

We had an older deuce with a 427 in it and it was an absolute fuel hog. We only had the Muncie 465 low gear four speed truck transmission in, so no overdrive. You had to be serious about wanting to go someplace in it. Road speed was a lot faster and it had ample power at any rpm. Ultra reliable...

Does Gl charge before the EUC comes back?

I was wrong, he is there Tuesday and Wednesday. Next Tuesday into Wednesday is supposed to be a lot warmer. I am going to try to schedule it for next week. I wondered about the non-available days applying. Anyway, I am looking forward to the journey. My M1008 is carrying a lot more deuce related...

    HELP, Batteries dying on startup!!

Have you tested the batteries? A weak battery can cause the grief you are describing. I know you said they are new, but if you ever watched how they are built, you too would have doubts. Glen
