    Field-expedient Deuce tire lift technique

Drag it to the nearest ditch, back in and load her up, saves a lot of lifting. I would think a couple of winch blocks and some rope would make flat loading a lot less painful. I have not had the pleasure with a later deuce yet, but the 1400s on the old five ton are a chore without help. I was...

    Have you named you truck?

Depends upon the day and circumstances... sometimes the names are pretty ugly, not worth sharing. ;) Our old Dodge was Big Red, the other old Dodge was Old Blue, these CUCVs have been pickup and Blazer so far.... not very inventive. We were calling the Missouri M1009 "Mo" but that has died out. Glen

Hey! Check the inside of those wheels for wet spots, before you drive off and the first few stops. If a caliper or wheel cylinder is going to start leaking, it will probably happen shortly after you start using the brakes..... okay, I am out of here... Glen

    just bought '86 m1008

This is my first military vehicle but the second owner. The truck was bought from the military last June 2010. I checked all of the fluids and drove the truck before I bought it. The guy I'm buying it from is replacing the cab corners and I'm picking it up on Friday. The front axle is almost...

    Field-expedient Deuce tire lift technique

Karl, can't you just roll the tire up on a snow drift, back the deuce in with the tailgate down, then sweep the rest of the snow out of the bed? Glen

    euc battle creek

It is warmer there and forecast to be warmer there than it is here. I think I am ready to go, I just hope Gimpy's cell service does not die. Maybe I should pay his bill a month to make sure! Seriously though, I have the TMs on my net book and my cell phone. I am hoping for a nice trip home. For...

I am on day 56 with my deuce, it was 65 days on my M1009. I am really hoping it does not clear for a couple of weeks yet as the forecast has been snow everyday for Rapid City.

    Ultra Rare hardtop found!!!

Elmore Dairy had a whole fleet of Divco trucks when I was a kid. Their fenders and grills always reminded me of the Anglias of gasser war fame. How bad is it rusted away, if I am really lucky, it is not for sale....

    Ultra Rare hardtop found!!!

I think it is the remains of an old Divco milk truck.... Ok, so my example is not original either...

Hello To All - M-43 Owner In NE Ohio

Looks like Squirrelly Shirley got a heart transplant! Welcome to the forums.... Those old ambulances used to be parked all over the country, all of a sudden, they were all gone.....

When do you change Glow plugs?

GL out of Jefferson City.....it is really not low miles, just a new odometer... I paid up for it, but at least it was complete and runs great. It now has the million mile odometer instead of the original 100K one.

    is it possible

I have pulled a 78,000 pound tractor trailer to the Freightliner Dealer with my M1008, but he had steering and brakes, all I was doing is providing the go. He had computerized fuel issues. We had about 3/4 of one mile to go and I just left it in low gear, low side and we purred along. I think...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Replaced the weak battery in one of the M1009s. It was a 2001 battery, so it had served us well. If the new one will hang in there that long.....

    Check those wheels!

This wheel did not fail at the split ring, it was an actual failure of the wheel itself. He did not get hit with the ring, it was the outside 2 or 3 inches of the wheel. Thanks Troll1216 for posting that chart. I did lots of tubeless stuff and had the wheels apart on my M715 many times.... Never...

    Check those wheels!

Here is an unusual accident. A local service guy went to air up a truck tire on a truck that had been used to spread solution. When he started pumping in air, the tire exploded, well, not really, the rim split. The tube, wheel, and tire was still bolted to the axle or in place. The outside half...

    Cucv/ GL questions

Riley just sold three really nice M1009s, they were repainted and the prep work was poor, so they needed to be painted again. They were as solid as any I have seen. I got my first M1008 in 2004.
