I was wanting to build a M818 length chassis. I do not have anything larger than a CUCV now. I was hoping to pick up three of these and probably should have. The scraps would have paid for my truck. If I had 2 or 3 820s, might as well start with the cab that is straight, rust free and has the...
I posted a thread earlier today, must have been buried. I made four trips over to look at them. I really wanted to buy the one that had Tank Doctor stenciled on the doors. I wanted to make a shorter truck out of it and put a deuce bed on. I planned to save the artwork on the doors.
I did not...
That looks like a very nice truck, I have been wanting one pretty badly, so if you need to throw it out of the yard.... Funny, I saw a M35A2 with a ring today. It was capped with plywood though instead of a soft top. Glen
I bought a new Gen 2 belt and installed it after my old one wound itself up tightly around the base of my fan clutch. That thing was tough to dig out of there, should have taken photos of it wound up so nice and tightly. You know that had to happen in a nano-second at 65 mph!
They sold 16 today, some of them were awesome mechanically. I am sure a couple just had recent depot rebuilds. Two had very close to new Michelins and another had new NDTs. I was going to try to pick up a pair for a bobber project until I noticed the doubled frame rails. Those trucks are some...
I agree, all three of mine fired right up down to 5 below zero, looks like a good chance for additional leakage. If your batteries and glow system is good, they are very good at starting cold... 32 is not very cold. Mine did that this morning!
Should be equipped with 4.56 gears, Detroit Locker, Corporate 14 bolt and full floating axles. Yours would not be the first one that was sold with a set of 1/2 ton axles swapped in.
The dreaded click. My first place to begin would be to test the batteries, if they are good, carefully check the cables and connections. Make sure the engine has a good ground to the chassis. Do you have another 24 volt truck to jump it with? Glen
That is a super nice truck and a museum would be glad to have it. If it was mine though, I would just drive it. A lot of museums got very nice CUCVs already. I am just not much for lifting these trucks, but that is a personal use thing. A decent set of tires and they are capable of more than I...
We should learn from the NRA and find out if any of our legislators are in favor of the MV or collector vehicle hobby. A few minor changes in many state's statutes would really enhance the MV hobby. BTW, I do vote. Glen
I am happy to say that I really cannot remember them all. The most enjoyable for me would be the back roads historical springs tour. I just cannot get enough of that great old history.
The longest trip was Salt Lake City.
Several trips to the Lake of the Ozarks.
I had at least one of my CUCVs...
According to them, I missed a few acres... Glen
