Straddle brake drum and use both hands to slide it off and lift it - one hand on the hub, one gripping the edge of the brake drum. Set it on a couple wood boards in front of the spindle so you keep it out of the dirt while you go get something to safely move the hub-drum assembly.
Can't you downshift with the gear selector to do the same thing? I do that with my M35A3, shifting down to 3rd gear to engine brake. The operator's manual for my truck says this is okay to do. I have an Allison AT1545P locking 4-speed in my truck.

I'm curious about the dual-circuit brake system. For the M35 trucks, a kit was made available to convert trucks from single-circuit to dual-circuit. Other trucks, like some M35A2 trucks built in the late 1980s and the M35A3 built in the 1990s came with dual-circuit brakes from the factory...

Did the truck keep the vacuum equipment too? I'm guessing the diesel motor came with a vacuum pump.

I think there should be a pressure safety valve at the air tanks. If you wanted you could add a second one just off the compressor. That was a M35A3 MWO that I applied since my truck never got it in-service.
You know, if you really wanted the turbo to whistle, a little bit of fabrication would get you a jet engine with a centrifugal compressor :cool:
A turbojet that size can make a lot of things whistle!
Thanks for weighing them! I did the bearings on my truck a couple years ago and screwed up my lower back for a day due to following poor lifting form getting a hub-drum assembly off the axle on my first-ever try. I figured the assembly had to weigh somewhere around 70-80 lbs. I wasn't too far...
If a previous private owner didn't add the winch, sometimes that stuff was added or removed by the Army. Sometimes hood numbers and data plates were swapped between trucks so that units tried to keep trucks they liked and got rid of the ones they didn't.
And I say "try" because sometimes units...

I think many multifuel owners here have deliberately removed their FDC. I think I've even seen MWO stickers indicating the military removed them. I guess they're pretty problematic (I have no first-hand knowledge of that since I don't have a multifuel truck).
