Thanks @BGR for the pics. Looking good with the bed and it would look even better with the mud flaps front and back. Dunno...the rear view just "doesn't look right" without them! Also, the canvas covers for the shifters (JATONKA) seal up some more of those critter openings into the cab!
Wouldn't it be much easier to go with an already developed solution? Replace the mechanical winch with a hydraulic one off an M35A3? Run everything you want with the hydraulics, with a simple shutoff valve?
Originally, there was a vent tube connected to the MC cap. An MWO was issued at some stage to disconnect that tube and replace it with a breather "mushroom" similar to the axle breathers. My truck had this MWO performed when I got it. The vent line is still there, just dangling disconnected...
From your description I find it difficult to point to a particular issue. Gee whiz...a Deuce making rattling noises....who knew! ;-)
If you suspect that the fan is an issue, check the fan. It should not feel loose when you try to wiggle it. You can take a wrench and check the mounting bolts of...
Well....my truck ad a similar loss of brake fluid, as spotted in the remote reservoir drop. It was sufficient to make me go "uh, oh", but not enough to make me go tear into it and rip it all apart tight away.
And....now it has stopped. No more drop. I refilled and it is steady as a rock. No...
If you are replacing the starter, I'd strongly suggest considering a modern gear reduction starter. Less power draw, smaller, lighter, and much better cranking.
Threads are available here on which models fit...
Add to that - at least here in Ontario, Canada - the luck of the draw when it comes to law enforcement. There are no "this is a personally owned heavy truck" exemptions. Over 12000 lbs/6000 kg. Congratulations, you are commercial. Personally owned and used? Don't care. Log book and annual safety...
The axle boots don't hold anything in, other than whatever grease is around the steering knuckle. They protect the steering knuckle and half shafts from dirt and water intrusion.
My master plan was to service the front end (which I did) and put new one piece boots on (much easier with...
Two years ago, I installed the silicone one piece axle boots from Western Canadian Rockwell. They fit great and seemed to last. Well......both were torn upon inspection earlier this year. I could not relate the tears to either the clamps or the turn angle limiter bolts.
I very much remember...
I like me my two piece combat rims. Ear protection, a 3/4 impact and let her rip. Most difficult part is cleaning the rim for reassembly and having new o rings on hand!

I am trying to say that compliance with the DOT (no overhang as per law) is not solving your transport problem, if the result of the compliant loading strategy is a Deuce with its front wheels off the ground.

The Deuce has a wheelbase of roughly 15ft. That is measured from the front hubs to mid-point between the tandems. The stock bed is roughly centered over the tandems, which is one reason why the Deuce gets "light" in front when overloaded. Essentially, any weight put into the bed goes onto the...
You essentially separate hub and brake drum, press the wheel studs out, flip the hub around and press the studs in from the other side; reassemble brake drum (and safety wire the bolts). That way, single rims will track correctly. You will need an extra set of "front" lug nuts for each wheel...
Thanks @Modiconman for taking the time to record a video of this. I can say that on my LDS the rear main seal carrier looks different; it is a distinct part that bolts to the rear of the block and has a paper gasket between it and the block. My carrier sticks out more than what you have there...
You are likely referring to the Sprag transfer case for front wheel engagement. If you have an air shift switch on the dash for front wheel engagement, this issue does not apply to your truck.
Often, it is the "moustache" spring missing or disengaged that holds the brake shoes for the parking...
My fight with the thimbles was a major factor in flipping the hubs and running singles.....the military had the right idea and converted quite a few.

First off, I have no clue. But I find adapting more modern parts to a 50 year old engine fascinating.
I hope somebody has some insights!
