What year is your rig? I had the same problem with my 1976 M813.

Replaced the fuel sender this week with mixed results. I was able to save the old gasket and all but one bolt came out without having to drill, although I did replce the bolts. There was definitely a lot missing on the old unit. At first the gauge worked but as soon as I climbed aboard...

Why not just disconnect it? On my M813 I think it's this doohickey, power lead 85, up underneath the dash, behind the oil pressure gauge. JD disconnected the dang thing before I took delivery of the truck. Now I just have to figure out how to reconnect it before the inspection...oy

Didn't have any luck with NAPA on my M813 fuel lines, used OMNI Services instead. Think they have locations in Virginia.

Is this the pickup tube in the tank? Had the same problem in my M813. Replaced it with a copper one.
