What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Not my 5-Ton but Youtube Casey's Offroad Recovery posted a video showing him changing the tire on his rig. I'm putting together my tire changing kit, what size jack-stands should I be looking for?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

With mallet, claw, a 2.5 ton chain fall and engine hoist I straightened out my rear end...and house to boot. Then foam cored the rotted out sections with rebar and scrap metal stiffening it up.

    GA M35A2 officially insured

Not a Duce but I also had good luck with Hagerty for my M813, $250/year, 2500 miles per year, not a daily driver, no hauling or towing and stored in a tent, well most of it. All registry was interested in was the body type, 3 sides and a tailgate means it's a pickup. Found a local inspector...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Don't you hate it when you get a bug in your teeth.

    Continued Fuel system issues

Does that model have a primer pump? I just rebuilt the one on my M813 to address a similar, if not more pronounced issue.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Locktite Foaming Filler for Big Gaps Update; Success, this stuff works. Although it's sand-able and paint-able best practice is to skim coat with filler. The product is porous and absorbs sprayed paint, takes allot of paint to fill the pores. I'm currently experimenting with brushed on paint...

Did you say the pickup tube in the tank is new?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Began patching and rust remediation. Want to get this rig on the road ASAP so until my welding skills improve I'm experimenting with Loctite Tite Foam for big gaps. It's sandable and paintable but I'll likely have to skim coat it before the finish coat. Used cardboard to create a gap between the...

    Keyed Ignition

I like the one from Big Mikes motor pool, it's cheap and easy to install. True it's not going to stop a hardened thief, aside from a well hidden kill switch what would? But it would likely deter a joy rider, a farm kid who knows how to start a tractor and can figure out my hi-lo manual...and...

    M880 truck

While you're at it don't forget the pickup tube, don't know if you small truck folk have the same issues with steel tubes that we do....:ROFLMAO:

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Troubleshooting a Pesky Power Steering leak on my M813 Gave the engine bay a good degreasing and power-wash and finally found where my power steering was leaking. Over the winter I had the truck leaning slightly toward the drivers side and the fluid puddle gave the impression the pump itself...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Installed a 5 Ton Series Keyed Ignition Switch from Big Mike's Motor Pool. Actual installation time was about 15 minutes, it took me longer to set up my cameras. This was not in response to the recent theft of a 5-ton, reported on this forum. I believe the 5 speed Hi Low Millennial Theft...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Did you check your pickup tube? Had the same problem with mine turned out the pickup tube was steel and had rotted out.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Rebuilt the Primer Pump on my M813 and eliminated another possible source of air into the fuel. The O-rings were shot, wasn't pumping and there was no vacuum. Then during disassembly, I compounded the problem by crushing the cylinder tube with a pair of vice grips, take care disassembling, the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Agreed on the ride, just one test drive of my 813 had me hooked. They're also easy to wrench on. The engine bay isn't chockablock full of parts, everything is reachable and the mechanics are straight forward, in a Frankenstein's monster sort of way...just BIG! So far I haven't had any major...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

One of the previous caretakers of my rig put this pressure relief valve in. Just a tug on the cable and the tank drains then shuts off automatically.

    Steel Pickup tubes

I cobbled one together from straight copper pipe soldering in the old threaded fitting.
