If you have power at that wire you need to check to be sure the control panel is grounded. I am not sure if the panel is grounded to the frame or if it is remote grounded.
Have you checked all the wiring (and under the top engine shroud) for rodent damage? Stored in a shed for years is just asking for mouse houses and mouse urine is the worst thing known to man on wires and aluminum. Does a pretty good job on steel also.
In order to be safe you need some form of interlock device. Be it a transfer switch or a manual lockout in the breaker panel. It HAS to disconnect the main power before you can physically connect generator power. Just switching off the main will work but it is too easy to forget and back feed...
Glad to hear they are working but I will tell you that back feeding is a sore subject on here. It is illegal and very dangerous for utility workers and frowned upon here.
I would turn the engine to make sure the valves are closed on #1 cylinder and verify that with the PC mark on the flywheel. Check the pump with the pin, if it goes in you are already set on the correct timing. Pin does not go in and then you know you have to take it it and rotate it. Why just go...
There is another very good thread going on this very subject. Have you used the pin to set #1 on the pump?

WOW!!!!! Either you got one hell of a deal or you have a very substantial investment at todays prices.
This should keep you busy for a while. I love my 002's and 003 but the fact of the matter is these have not been made for 30 years and parts have been discontinued years ago. My next one, if...
Rocker arms will be up for the valves to be closed! Something else to watch is if one rocker is coming up and the other is going down just as they reach the top then you need to go one full turn. You need both to be completely up and moving the flywheel a little in either direction will not move...
I just noticed where you are from, I am going to bet that with all that is going on with the fires out there that any generator is going to go for top dollar, Military ones always seem to bring even higher prices.
If you are going to tow it any distance at any speed then go over the trailer well. Wheel bearing can be dried out, I have seen that many times and tires could be dry rotted. Look between the treads and if there are cracks do not tow it. Very good chance that tire will blow out. I had a CUCV...
So basically it is self repairing? The shorting coil did its job and shorted and broke. (What were they thinking?) So the meter should now work if it is set correctly. Are the connections clean and tight? And are you getting voltage to those connections?
The date on that meter is 2/05, that...
If the resistor is burnt you will have to fix it or replace it. Do you want to keep it original or would you prefer to have a digital gauge which is much more accurate? Next question would be why did it fail?
Those glow plugs are tough to find. I just got a full box of 10 Champion 182 CH42 plugs online $170.55. That was a rarity, you will need to search to find them, they have not been made for quite some time now. Generally they are going for $50.00 each.
Thank you very much for that last video! That is exactly what mine does. So I will be watching this to see where it heads. On mine I completely bypassed the whole fuel system and ran from a fuel can through a small inline filter into the p[ump to eliminate any and all restrictions and I got...
