Once upon a time we had a guy on here that did a cutdown walk thru..... or maybe another site.... the 4 man is rare and $$$. He did great work, a very accomplished fabricator.
I've done 93 from Twin Falls to Vegas and 95 from I80 to Vegas (I don't remember ever being north of Winnemucca). If the weather is cooperating I'd do either before Salt Lake to the east. Bad weather I'm going thru Salt Lake! See why we are curious about your city. I assumed you were on the...
You may also find that you have a 4l85 not a 4l80. Some were bought for rebuilds at Texarkana. I've never been able to figure out which ones though. The most telling item will be a 5 gear planetary. Please keep us informed on what you find.
Check with Steve on here, Retired Warhorses. He has a haul guy that might be able to help you out. I don't think you would enjoy a ride thru Northern CA without a big dually diesel. Lots of freight inbound to WA state, not a lot out. Makes it pricey. My 2 cents.
The guy "clinebarger" has a shop , the last I chatted with him, in Fort Worth. He knows his stuff on these transmissions. It would be worth your time and money to ship him a transmission to overhaul. My two cents.

Don't use the string myself, plumb bob, tape measure, laser level, fabricated aluminum bar to bridge the wheel plus a digital protractor for caster and camber. Takes me about two hours. Adjusting the tow and thrust on the backend can be confusing if you have never done rears before. MUCH...
Hard to screw up a pitman arm instal......... my guess a tire is working over the arm.
When you get ready to balance your new tires I would suggest finding an off road shop 0r the Loves guys down at exit 72, and I would take them in off the truck, spin 4 tires throw them back in the back of...
