    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

It’s built like an aluminum tank. I have it up on all 3 jacks right now and it doesn’t budge at all when standing on it and trying to make it move or even wiggle a bit. Zero flex. on fenders or boxes. Plenty of storage built in. Going to install NOS wire harness this weekend if weather...

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

Absolutely post away. This is the only trailer data plate that I’ve seen which says “Modified”. Hard to tell in pics but it came from factory that way. Hence the modified wording on the data plate. Way too nice aluminum work for unit level.

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

When I removed the inner rim, I had nice paint staring back at me. On the wheel studs and drum face that hadn’t been exposed to weather. Definitely an old and odd trailer.

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

No clue. Time and $$$ Old radar unit would be cool. I bet that will never be on the surplus sites. Wish I had pics of this particular trailer when it was complete. Would be pricey if you could even find the proper radar. With the labor for the lock ring rims, I’ll have $1k just for 4 new...

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

Funny you mentioned that. Was just trying to figure out a layout plan for a welder/generator/tanks/fuel, etc just yesterday.

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

I understand Very well TRADOC and bumper numbers. It’s this particular odd trailer that’s throwing me a curve. The rear aluminum bumper has small threaded holes so instead of painting the unit, etc, on the bumper, you can simply make a plate with same info and screw it on.

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

New tires installed tomorrow hopefully. Finding someone who will work on these is becoming extremely difficult

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

The trailer came from Ft. Sill I’m assuming it’s from the Air Defense Battalion/Brigade The X still is a mystery

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

That’s why I posted it. The markings don’t make sense to me. I’m not that familiar with the FireFinder units and Organization Make-up.

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

So sanded the rear bumper a bit today to hopefully read the unit markings. Left side: TDC ADB Right side: X301 Training & Doctrine Command? Air Defense Battery? X for experimental since this was one of the very first FireFinder units?

NF2D Kohler Generator/Light Tower during Ice Storm.

I do take care of it. Did full service on it today and also installed two brand new Optima battery’s. Topped off tank and parked it. She’s ready to go when needed.

NF2D Kohler Generator/Light Tower during Ice Storm.

Just over a week ago, Western and Central Oklahoma had a historic early season ice storm that crippled parts of the state. Some areas received 4” of ice. Hundreds of thousands of people without power and at or below freezing temperatures for days. Most of foliage still on trees was biggest...

    Electrical help needed.

Being that your unfamiliar with CUCVs, it’s 24v system, and diesels, Download the TMs as suggested for reference so you at least know what your looking at and where things are located. When you have a chance, Read the older threads and use the search function. Everything your dealing has...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

It’s all personal preference. I bought a set (4) of the 6T lead acid batterys for one of my 5 tons. Will never do it again. Total pain always checking water levels and worried about corrosion from the fumes. I know the Hawkers are twice the price but for me, the piece of mind it gives me is...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

https://www.odysseybattery.com/products/ods-agm6m-battery-pc2250/ These are the civilian equivalent to the Hawkers. Excellent battery and just as good as a Hawker from what I’ve heard. You get what you pay for in battery’s has been my experience. My M1008A1 seems to spin over now just a tad...

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

The fenders make an excellent work top. Perfect height. Strong too. I stood and walked on them and they didn’t flex or budge one bit. The original taillights were trash. Super corroded inside with no chance of saving them. Trailer has been in deep water at some point I discovered that the...

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

The axle is a standard M101A1 axle. Wheels are the standard lock ring unfortunately. Tires are a bit old. Edit: That’s just water on the tire. I was rinsing things off. A few pics of underneath. Took off rear bumper and evicted a furry tenant. Used rear jacks today and put them in full up...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

It pays to know the Hawker Representative and still have a current military ID. That’s about all I can say per his request.

    AN/TPQ-36 FireFinder (Modified M116A1) Trailer

Most of the special parts, what’s left anyway, are not in any TM. That I can find anyway. I plan to remove wheels tomorrow and find out what axle is installed. Pics are from a control panel that was inside. Kinda Interesting.
