How to mount 37" - 24 bolt HMMWV wheels and tires on an M1028

My truck steers like a dream with just the use of an adjustable drag link. So what is the benefit of the cross-over steering? Maybe it is only necessary for taller lifts?

How to mount 37" - 24 bolt HMMWV wheels and tires on an M1028

I did a 4" lift on my truck with new springs in the front and 4" lift blocks in the back. The front have 2" aluminum spacers behind the rims. Stock steering with an adjustable drag link. The truck steers like a dream. No rubbing and smooth turns. Once I had the HMMWV tires balanced it rides...

    Hattiesburg meet and greet

All attendees got a good deal on 3/4" Roboimpact Tools I had for sale. We also got a damp tour of Jeff's you-pull-it MV truck salvage/collection.

Hey Jeff had a good time with good friends. Thanks for hosting the get-together. I hope to make the next one too. Thank you and Amy for the hospitality. Can you send me a high resolution version of that picture? Enjoy the cake (and no fighting over it!)

I suggest you talk to the local authorities and ask them what they need.

    1941 K18-C GMC Recovered today

Don't worry it'll buff right out! I think you need to buy my 40 x 40 building so you can store those valuable trucks in a safer place. I dropped my asking price to $11k.

    939 series 14.00 x 20 air pressure

The question is: Do we inflate to the maximum 85 PSI or go maybe 80 PSI? What about the lighter trucks in that series like the M923?

    goldneagle's 1985 M1008 recovery and restoration thread...

I went out today and painted the tire carrier. I also installed a temporary security cable.

Installing FMTV Wheels on a M936

Valve stem going to be an issue too. It does not go in both directions like the combat rims.

Installing FMTV Wheels on a M936

I would not recommend a drill bit since it could catch and ruin the hole and therefore ruin the rim. A reamer is designed to shave metal off.

Installing FMTV Wheels on a M936

You can always try a machine shop too. I am sure they got reamers out there at different angles. You just need to know what angle you need.

Installing FMTV Wheels on a M936

You can always try a real large pipe reamer. Since they can ream steel pipes they should be able to give you some bevel on the lug nut holes. RIDGID makes some real good ones.

    goldneagle's 1985 M1008 recovery and restoration thread...

I found some pictures of the tire carrier on the web and want to share them.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The mount point for the tire carrier is military issue. I just mounted the assembly on to a M1008 bumper -which I reinforced and modified to fit the genuine military tire mount. I would bet that the special bolt used is hardened to withstand abuse. The smooth (unthreaded portion of the bolt)...
