I'm still hunting down parts to finish my truck and need help finding this. It is 1/4 inch solid bead, 1-1/2 wide, approximately .080 thick and appears to be made of military canvas. It goes between the panels of the hardtop to seal out moisture and keep the metal from rubbing together.
I...
Yes please show us what tools to look for. I know of at least 3 of us wanting to learn how to rebuild a transmission for these trucks. Mostly out of necessity.
The shift into high didn't work for me either so a rebuild is in my future. You can see my attempt in the first video in my signature. If you watch it, could you tell me if your truck did the same as mine?
Do you have any more detailed pictures of your K&N upgrade? I really like that.
Looks great! Is your truck up and driving? Some video and more pictures of it would be cool
What did you find in the reduction unit that was making it stick? I have one stuck right now.
I am trying to move this over here so we have all the info in one place.
I believe the Autolite number is 2245. There are some civilian equivalents. A spark plug wire adapter that would let us use civilian wires on the military distributor would be a fix that could get a lot of us by for a long...
Can you expound on this a bit? Maybe in another thread so we can keep it in one location. I am always trying to plan ahead on these trucks for when some parts are no longer available. Distributor parts and the military spark plugs are a concern to me since Autolite quit making the military plugs.
I think you either have a problem inside your airpak, a restricted brake hose or there is a check valve in your master cylinder for those brakes to be hanging up like that.
I have no experience to offer, but I have read where people have used a CCKW transfer case and transmission with success. These were old write ups with no pictures or video.
It will be neat to see what you come up with.
Great info!! Thanks!! Every time I have pulled the cover off of the cooler in various trucks, there has been a lot of crud settled in the bottom of them.
For discussion sake, what do you think of the write up that recommends Hytran in the transmission? It's sure hard to argue with the success...
I am almost certain that Memphis Equipment has those. Call them. They don't list much online.
It would be neat to find a modern replacement too. Please let us know what you find if you go the modern replacement route.
