    1952 M135 W/Winch

I was watching Vietnam in HD last night and saw some M135's in use in Vietnam. Skip ahead and the trucks should come up at 21:10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPh1_BH5LXE

    Electrical Woes

I have a couple spare tire carriers on my parts trucks. No idea what they might weigh or how easy/awkward they are to ship since I have never taken one off of a truck. Maybe we can look around and see if anyone is going though this area on their way up to yours over in the Transportation section.

Need more info on the fuel filter system and gas tank strap material! I like it.

    M135 Muffler

I used these on mine. https://www.napaonline.com/p/FPB60986 OD 2.95" ID 2.5" Thickness 1/2". Probably won't get much closer than that. That muffler sounds real good.

    Electrical Woes

You might give Vintage Wiring of Maine a call. At one time I believe they sold pieces for the harness and I know they still make complete wiring harness for these. http://vintagewiring.com/product-category/m-series/m135/ It looks like the spare tire carrier was removed and the fuel tank...

Gear oil in rear wheel bearings I am in the process of hooking the rear brakes back up and am taking everything back apart after putting everything on new a year ago. New inner hub seal, cork key way seal, etc. I still have gear oil getting into the wheel bearings. The truck probably doesn't...

That is a good part number. I've used it and it works well. Would be awesome if you were able to do a "How To" video or write up with pics on the water pump rebuild. Any chance of that happening?

I am pleased with the way it turned out. The differences in the primed spot that you can see is because the primer was not dried yet. We'll see how the primer holds onto it before I go much further.

I did some sanding on that All Metal and it seems to be doing good. Now we will see what the primer does to it and how well it sticks when cured. There were three good sized holes above the instrument panel in that primed spot. The holes are visible in the video of my truck. I still need to...

This belt thing got me curious and I found a bit of info on it in TM 9-8024 on page 264. It says, "The correct tension is when a light pressure on belt midway between generator and water pump pulley causes 1/2- to 3/4- inch deflection." Then I found this on page 232 of TM 9-8025-1. How does...

Did he describe how to know if the belt is too tight, too loose or just right? I need to check mine now and adjust it if needed.

Answer to the age old question-m35a2

So far no ill effects on mine and the battery gauge is staying in the green. I have been very pleased. I've only had it about 2 months so hopefully it stays good....

Answer to the age old question-m35a2

That fuel line is hopefully all of the problem. I wonder what smashed it up like that? Is that first picture from yesterday with the ladies wearing jackets??!! It is close to 100 degrees down here with the heat index at 121. I need to move further north. You might consider one of these for...

    1952 M135 W/Winch

Great info. Drilling a small hole would be effective then. The old one does have a larger opening. That is what is causing me some concern with the new one. The opening on the new one is 1.070 and the old is 1.500. The boiling water test made both of them start to open at 160-165 degrees and...

Finding a thermostat I am in search of a replacement thermostat to add to our parts list. I pulled the thermostat out of a parts truck to compare to one I ordered that is for a 270/302 engine and I am trying to confirm if the new one will work. It looks so different. The outside diameter is the...

U-joints added. Colors changed to look closer to the Steel Soldiers theme.

I had time this weekend to pull a u-joint and the Spicer 5-160X and Moog 330 are the exact same as what came out of the parts truck driveline. I will get them added to the parts list within the next few days. Here are pics of the new and old together. I was also able to apply some All Metal...

You will like having a functioning airpak. Makes a huge difference! Just a slight push on the brake pedal and you will feel it engage. When will you install the rebuilt one? What else did you find in that treasure chest?

That sure seems really high! If those numbers are right, maybe some name dropping would be good so I know who not to do business with. Do you think there would be any interest in the M809 series airpak power piston assembly that allows us to use the 5 ton rebuild kit if I can get them made at a...

    1952 M135 W/Winch

I did a search for that exact part number and can only come up with the Spicer 5-160X which happens to be the same as the Moog 330 that I found. I am guessing what the Goat crew has is the same thing? If you get a chance, could you confirm measurements for me unless I get around and get one...
