Re: RE: Re: RE: I need Info on batteries
Good thing that wasn't a busy rail-line :D If you wouldn't have got it off the tracks in time you might have been a half-Whit. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Good luck on your adventure and please post pics when you make it safely home.

Do a search for USA6x6 on this site or Pirate4x4 or the IFSJ site or the 715 Zone or just type "USA6x6 problems" into google and you'll find all sorts of issues.
Thanks jeli and gmayor! I ended up winning a crate of pipeline tools at FLW today. I thought they would go great with my Dad's M756A2. It should make a good Christmas present ;)
Gmayor, it would be great if you could take a look at the lot and give me an idea of how much stuff is there...
Check the brake light switch. Mine didn't work when I got it. It works off of air-pressure. It is hooked into an air line on the inside of the driver's frame-rail and has 2 wires coming out of it. Moisture from the air line can rust the switch in the on or off position. I couldn't source...
All deuce varieties use the military standard 6TL or 6TMF batteries. There has been some difficulty finding them lately with the Iraq War, but they are out there. Any battery guy worth his salt should be able to get them for you. I have found them for as little at $70 a piece from a surplus...
You might want to raise your truck squarely on level ground with some jack-stands to check the frame. My 1009 had one corner of the frame tweaked by too much off-roading. A frame shop will check it for you for a fee if you suspect you have a problem.
Good tips DH. To add to that even further, don't be tempted to do both ends at the same time. Keep one end of the truck safely on the ground. Don't skimp on the jack and jack-stands either. I use the Craftsman Professional series 4-ton floor jack and 12-ton jack stands. You can't have too...
IMO, I wouldn't rely on the stock jack for anything other than filling the jack bracket. Get yourself a good high-reach floor jack. Even better are the ones that go all the way to the axle housing in one pump. To change the leaf springs, I used a floor jack to get the front or rear axle...
Man, I had an ex-gf shut the door on my 1009 with her boot. I was pissed. She said, "What, it's all scratched and nasty tan anyways!" That was the end of her ;) An oak tree finished it off later.

M1075 was gonna check his rims for us (hint, hint).
I think the consensus so far is that the rims won't center on the lugs correctly since the back-side isn't countersunk. If that's correct, then you'd have to flip your rear hubs and run the...
