RE: HELP ME! I
The easiest swap would be to go with a non-electronic Allison auto. You could probably find one with the same case length and ratios. The MT654CR in the 939-series trucks has been durable. I have seen them on eBay. John Winslow had a HEMTT Allison HT740D tranny the last time...
Ha! Well, the smell has gone away for the most part. That is until it gets nice and hot and the oil starts cooking out of every crack and crevice.
I have some on the bed-liner in my pick-up too. I had the sliding rear window open today and could smell some fish sticks every once in a...
I won't be able to get them in time for Haspin next week, but if you guys are interested I can make up some Haspin 2007 shirts using the black SS shirt on OD Iron ( http://odiron.com/store/index.php?cPath=41 ) for the front and then a Haspin design on the back. Let me know if you are...
Sheesh. They would have been better off mounting the solenoids to the firewall and encapsulating the circuit-board in a separate smaller housing. At least that way you could change out the part that fails instead of the whole box, but alas that is not the military way.
Question 1: I guess you had the plug off while the engine was running? I always had mine out when it was off so I can't say for sure if it was spitting around. The pump is lubed with engine oil via an oil line and drains through the front into the gear case. That being the case, I wouldn't...
Not that any of you would do this ;) but as far as bumping up the power goes, the 8.3 CTA would be a better choice. There are already aftermarket injectors, fuel plates, injection pumps, etc... available for the 8.3. You can safely increase the boost 15-20 psi to handle the extra fuel without...
Well, it depends on what you want it for. If you are interested in a truck to drive all ove the place, off-road, haul, etc... it wouldn't be the best choice. Prototypes are just that. They are trucks that may not have parts or manuals available for them. That could make things very difficult...
RE: M1028 from heck finally home!
Wow, that sucker was flattened! That cab shouldn't be too hard to come up with, especially if you go with a civi one. At least you live outside of the salt-belt!
Here's a pic from Dave Newman's site. It is a 939 prototype. It has louvers in the side of the hood instead of the re-enforcing ribs. Looks like the same truck.
Hmm, I suppose that is possible ;) but that doesn't explain why the batteries very low when we got home and why the voltage gauge would run to the bottom of the green when above idle and the kick into high charge at idle.
Thanks guys! I'll see about some more pics ;) There are some projects I have lined up for it such as replacing the hood insulation and the PCB. The PCB is actually still working ever since I beat on it with a hammer. I need to pull the alt. to have it checked for proper output. I think it...
Turns out the engine is a 3208 CAT. I am guessing this is another BMY prototype with the 3208 and Allison auto. It came out of the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, which is pretty nifty.
