M1009 aka RED project under way

I thought I did place an order. Or at least a request some months ago. I was displaying great patience by not asking again. I guess I do need to tutor him on picture posting.

M1009 aka RED project under way

We hope to have it at the rally so he can drive it on the trails. It should be all green by then and water tight. Before I let it be driven on the road, he still needs to replace the front springs, new calipers, ball joints, tie rod ends, drag link ends, ujoints, all brake hoses and at the...

M1009 aka RED project under way

I didn't realize it had been 4 months since I had updated this thread. We have been busy without much time for posting. Back around Christmas he sanded down the inside, finished welding up the rocker and floor with a home made patch panel, painting the interior, Mount up a set of M1008...

    2013 Annual TX MV Rally

Allen says he is in. I haven't contacted sermis, Kwai, pistolnut or 40Grit yet. I will do some calling this weekend since they never get online anymore.

    axle length ?

I don't know the reason for sure. However, my M715 is about the same ratio thinner on the rear. All of the older baby jeeps are thinner in the rear as well. My guess is for tracking in turns reasons. I just know the 1009 is so easy to drive around obstacles on the trail. Basically, once your...

    Coolant system flush procedure?

If I understand your question correctly, you just want to get the detergent and water out. Not, force crud or gunk out of the system. The best and cheapest way to do that is to pull the upper radiator hose off at the radiator, stick a garden hose in the radiator cap inlet, let the hose flow...

Can the Master Cylinder handle 50psi? (And brake flush related questions)

Alcohal is a good flush medium. as stated, you only need about 5 psi to push stuff through. Sure, you can crank it up to 50 psi, but why spray yourself and the under side of the truck?

    2013 Annual TX MV Rally

Since we had 4 M35 trucks at the museum last year. I am going to try real hard to get the M715 repower done by then and bring it. Colton and I will be there in either the M715 or a M35. We might also drag his project M009 to the camp site which should be done by then. It will stay at the...

Long to Short Injector swap headaches

I had to use a ruler to figure out I had gained 1/4". Looking at a long injector engine, taking a step and looking at the same side of a short injector engine left me wondering. No way a picture would show it. We are almost done putting the 6.2C engine all back together. I will get a picture...

Long to Short Injector swap headaches

I gained 1/4" clearance on the #8 injector line. Or, the line is now 1/4" closer to the head on all injectors. Just wanted to make sure I put an end to this thread with an answer.

Long to Short Injector swap headaches

Well, at least in my case the lines have to stay with the engine. Long lines work fine with short injectors and short lines work fine with long injectors.

    M1028 electrical issues

Once you figure out the wiring. You will still have a truck not wanting to start below 40°. I would recommend pulling the 13G glow plugs even though they tested ok and put in 8 new 60G glow plugs. I have some glow plugs that test ok with an ohm meter and never get hot when I test them in a...

    Possible injection problem

Stand if front of your truck with the hood open. The oil fill tube is at the front top of the engine. Behind that is the aluminum coolant cross over pipe. Right behind that in the middle is the IP. There is a black neoprene hose coming off the IP going toward the coolant cross over. It will...

    Possible injection problem

I would suggest a fuel and air filter replacement first. Does it do this in every gear? Pull the return line check valve on the top of the IP and look through it. Can you see through it or is it all filled up with crud? Black little spec crud. If it is filled up, your IP is coming apart and...

Injection pump swap and timing question

Were the line tie downs at the valve covers on? Did you put on a new triangle shaped gasket between the pump and the block? Did you put anything on the gasket to make it stick better or be slippery? Turn your old pump by hand. It is pretty easy to turn. Now, put a little sideways pressure...

    M1009 Blazer upholstery

I ordered the vinyl floor from LMc and have been trying to install it this week. Non heated shop and 30° temps make that stuff not want to bend at all. We should warm up some soon. I will get pictures when it is done.

Long to Short Injector swap headaches

That could very well be. We bolted the short lines up to the long injectors this afternoon. Not a bit of trouble making things fit that way. Once we finish painting the valve covers, we will put them on Monday and try the long lines with the short injectors.

    M1009 IP Leak

My M1009 did fine until the first cold spell a few years ago. My leak and probably your leak as well was from the drive side throttle shaft seal. There is nothing wet near the mounting flange except engine oil from the timing gear area. Mine would leak anytime it was below 50° out. Then be...

Long to Short Injector swap headaches

I am putting a HMMWV can 6.2 in my M715. It had the long injectors which resulted in the #6 and #8 lines hitting my heater housing when we test fitted the engine. Not to worry I thought because Warthog has a 1988 CUCVII/contract military truck with a 6.2 and short injectors in my pasture. I...
