You need two special tools. A steering wheel puller to pull the wheel and a spring compressor to push down the lock plate so the C clip can be removed. The manuals don't really show this procedure. However, there have been several threads about it in the past. Look at the bottom of this page...
Those lines from Badger Diesel are great. They will leak or at least seep if you don't do a square cut and push them all the way on. After about 10 times pulling an end of and putting it back on. Cut off the last 1/2 inch or so and all will be good again.

Without more information, it is hard to pin point exactly what is wrong. Do the obvious. Check all grounds, especially the one on the parking brake housing up under the dash. Check the big plug on the bottom of the steering column, that is the blinker wiring connector. Of course, checking...
Again, warm it up and check the fluid with the truck on a level surface and the engine running. If you got it full, then it is full. If you need to add, remember the hash marks on the stick are 1 pint apart, not 1 quart like the engine oil.
The transmission fluid needs to be checked with the fluid at operating temperature and the engine running. It normally takes 2 gallons to fill it back up after dropping the pan and changing the filter on the transmission.
