    Prototype 5 ton 6X6 M956

That is the same truck. The guy had 2 and sold one to Dave Newman. The other is still in his pole barn. It is a 939 prototype. The engine is a Cummins, but not a NHC250 or 8.3. I am working on finding out what it is. The tranny is an auto, but is an odd-ball and may be difficult to find...

    Prototype 5 ton 6X6 M956

Gringeltaube, what makes you think they are deuce axles? I wouldn't think they would use deuce axles on a 5-ton prototype. They have 10-lug hubs and the air-brake backing plates look similar to mine. I have emailed the owner for some more details. I will post up any info when I get it.

My M1008 now has a hitch

Cool. I look forward to the pics. This should be a handy post for reference since this topic has come up several times before.

    GL or Private sale?????

My first MV was a 1009 CUCV from a P.P. It's nice to be able go and test-drive something. If you've never driven one, you can get the feel for it. Plus you can check out its overall mechanical condition. GL or any auction can be a crap shoot. If you do go the GL route, pick a location...

    Prototype 5 ton 6X6 M956

It's a pretty cool looking prototype truck. I always enjoy seeing the early features vs. the final production features. I would love to see some photos of the entire truck sometime. Maybe your source can get us some more photos C'dub? I have been looking at the pics trying to come up with...

    I wont give upthe quest:

I am pretty sure you meant to put this in the 5-ton section, not the member recognition section, so I'll get it moved for you.

    Steel Soldiers Donor Recognition

Wooohooo! We just got the final donation to reach our goal of $2500 for the new server. Thanks everyone!! [thumbzup] That doesn't mean that we won't accept any more donations. There is always a website project that we can spend it on :)

    Hi all, I'm new here

No problem. Man I wish we had a collector decal that would bypass the inspection. Of course with straight air and a 11-ton plus curb weight, an extra inspection is not always a bad thing. My truck plates were around $300 a year, ouch. Call Sonya at Gulfway insurance for an estimate at...

Pics of Trip to Jack's Gov Surplus

Whoa, that is an awesome yard! Adam, we need to organize shipping your boxcar there to fill up on goodies. How many trucks can we fit on a flatcar? ;)

    Some Pics from Iraq

Great pics Nate! Is the up-armored 923 an A2 with CTIS? I don't see any wheel-valves or shields, but I think I remember you saying a different post that it was an A2 with the 8.3 CTA. As troublesome as it is, I would imagine you guys have disabled it for reliability purposes.
  14. steelsoldiers

    Hi all, I'm new here

Don't discount the 939A1 trucks though. The NHC250 is a great engine. No CTIS is not always a bad thing. It can be a very time consuming and expensive system to maintain. You still get the 14R20 singles and maybe ABS if it got the MWO before being released. M939/A1 parts are a little easier...

    Hi all, I'm new here

A glance at my post above would have answered your question: A2 wheels, see pic: Of course that is not always a 100% rule as the CTIS wheel valves and shields may have been pulled off if the CTIS was disabled. You can also look at the shift tower in the cab to see if there is a CTIS...

50 year old M52 getting it ready to drive home

Congrats David! I'm glad you got it home safely and that it ran so well for you. Hopefully we'll see it in the 2008 ECC.

    Wreckerman got one!!!!!

RE: I Alright! Congrats WM!! That looks like a real good deal. Now you just need to weld up a redneck gunring to go with it. 3 pieces of galvanized pipe, some corrugated roofing and an old camera tripod should do it. Seriously though, it does look nice. The seat covers are cherry.

    bad luck today

RE: Re: RE: bad luck today Man Nick, that wasn't fun at all. You could put a gun ring on the Z4 to go to the range ;) That would turn some heads!!
