Howdy,
That's exactly what you need to do. Hide the generator. Get everything installed and inspected. As long as the hookup, transfer switch, panels, meter and such are ready for service and generator inlet is ready, they have no need to know what generator is used. That is on you.
Howdy,
Don't get to carried away. Older units do NOT have captive nuts. and its a real pain to get way up in the air cleaner area.
I know for a fact my 2007 units do not have captive nuts. The 2009 units do. So somewhere in between they changed over to that nice captive nut style.
Howdy,
You could start here MEP-802A MEP-803A Filters and Parts and the 2nd post has quick links.
Being a 2010 unit, I would think it has caged nuts. Much easier taking the panels off. Not every single bolt has caged nuts, but lots are.
Careful removing the hose from the TEE's. A careful...
Howdy,
I would consider it a rebuild enough to warrant break-in oil.
Diesel's like the thrust power to set rings. I would suggest you follow want DRMO reset build goes by, loading 25% to start, moving to 50%, and then 75%-80% max for the first 5 hours. The reset manual has the info in it. That...
Howdy,
Please go and read the whole thread. Read it and you will understand.
MEP-802A MEP-803A Filters and Parts
There are 2 filters for fuel. A cartridge fuel filter, and a spin-on fuel/water filter. 2 different products.
Howdy,
Why re-invent the wheel. The fuel cartridge filter will last hours upon hours before it needs changing. A cartridge filter cost about ..er... something like $8.00
Howdy,
The switches were not a new or year type item. The NSN an calls for a switch. Some manufacturers made a better switch than others.
The Electroswitch with metal housing and metal stab pin are the better unit. They can also be identified by the bakelite switch handle.

The 2nd posting has the information about a Generator Reset and what was done to it.
The oil information is there too. John Deere Break In Oil is 10W-30 It is non-detergent oil to let the film build up for proper break-in.
Howdy,
The charging usually finishes within a short time for batteries up to snuff. If they are a little weak, it could take a hour of run time to have them topped off.
Howdy,
Some information.
A single copper wire with insulation will have a certain amperage rating by itself.
A 4 wire group, in a covering will have a lesser amperage. The method and construction and materials used will be the determining factor.
#6awg wire/ 4 conductors, in a SOOW is rated at...
Howdy,
Before you get to excited cranking.... check to make sure your unit has the quad winding fuse mod. Excessive cranking can do bad stuff.
Go through the unit to make sure it is ready to start too.
Howdy,
Any SOOW or Type W cord is meant for temporary power usage. That is also why you want flexible cord. If you have a run over 50ft, you should really be looking to a hardwire solution. Running underground conduit, with THHN wire of size. Conduit large enough to support the 4 wires as well...
Howdy,
I am not sure where you were pricing type W cord. It's not cheap. SOOW cord is cheap compared type W.
Type W is very flexible. The outer covering is tough.
Howdy,
OK, I am not talking about filters I have put on. Yes, some oil on the rubber gasket before installing.
The original installed filter when you purchased the unit, was probably installed dry, and very tight.
