Who are the experts on the Air compressor

My truck started doing something that sounds very similar to this yesterday. When I put my foot in it, the purge valve on the air dryer starts going off in rapid fire. It seems to also be behaving a little oddly at idle as well, and when I shut the truck off, there was air bleeding off under the...

    Ether Bottle Question

The oil cooler housing bolts are M8 but regardless, the bolts themselves absolutely have the clamping force to pull the oil cooler down flat. The issue however is that all of the bolts are around the perimeter of the oil cooler housing, so you are relying on the rigidity of the cast aluminum oil...

    Ether Bottle Question

Yea, I'm not talking about the spacer plate, it has absolutely nothing to do with this issue. I'm talking about the short direction across the flat surface of the oil cooler, photo below. The center section is where the two dividers are that separate filtered from unfiltered oil. My cooler was...

    Ether Bottle Question

I'm planning to do a detailed write on this, but I'll give you the abbreviated version here. One of the main causes of HEUI pump failures in 3126 and C7 engines is the oil cooler/oil filter housing. The main issue is that the oil cooler gasket surface that the oil filter housing seals against...

    Ether Bottle Question

I can pretty much guaranty they didn’t.

    Ether Bottle Question

Thanks guys. I just finished a complete cosmetic restoration my C7 along with addressing the several issues detailed in the CAT media letter regarding the HEUI system, so it's fully bombproofed now. I'm going to do a post regarding what I found, what was done to correct what was found and then...

    Ether Bottle Question

I need to give the either starting system on my A1R some love. Haven't dedicated any time to it yet, so no idea if it is functional or not. Anyone have a good source for the canisters and the plastic tubing? The canister was missing and the tubing was cut when I got the truck.

    Replacement hose supplier

HPS has quality silicon hoses for pretty much everything except the pre-formed lower hose from the trans cooler to the radiator. The temp spec on their hose exceeds the mil spec by 50 degrees on the top end.

    CAT OEM Parts Source?

I’m not using a lubricant additive, although at one point I had asked about that on the forum. I drive my truck regularly. Letting them sit for extended periods, like the military did with my truck, isn’t good. People complain about how unreliable the Pacbrakes are, say they get stuck closed...

    CAT OEM Parts Source?

Empire CAT in Reno had them new.

    CAT OEM Parts Source?

I would use them if they were the new injectors that superseded the original ones. The originals were apparently problematic, and from what I have read, the newer injector, among other changes, has screens to prevent debris from a failed HUEI pump taking out the injectors.

    CAT OEM Parts Source?

Does anyone have a CAT OEM parts source that is good to deal with? My local dealer here in Kalifornia is Peterson CAT and they never answer their phone and don't call back if you leave a message. I sat on hold for the parts department for over an hour on one call and on three calls selected the...

    M1078 A1 transfer case

So, my trans serial number 6510837456 which falls in between those two numbers. So, does that mean I don't have the bad bearing but also not the new composite washer?

    M1078 A1 transfer case

Talked to an Allison dealer today said the thrust washer is $418 and has to come directly from Allison, no dealers stock it. They were supposed to check an additional source and call back but I didn’t hear back from them. Sounds like they have zero familiarity with 3700SP but they should be able...

    M1078 A1 transfer case

I'll take a look when I'm with the truck next time. On another note, it appears there is a gasket between the C6 housing and the t-case body, either that or it's a very nice sealant job. Anyone have a part number handy for the gasket? My computer with my A1R TM database is with my kid currently.

    M1078 A1 transfer case

Well, my truck seems to be the one that just sat and had parts scavenged off of it, so I doubt it had a new trans put in it after 2011, but who knows. As low as the mileage on my truck was, I doubt it even had any fluid changes done, so probably unlikely they swapped in the new thrust washer...

    M1078 A1 transfer case

The new thrust washing came into play in 2011, my truck is a 2008.

    M1078 A1 transfer case

Can someone who has purchased this part post the contact info for where you purchased it. I have no current issue with my 2008, but want to eliminate the chance of having it in the future. Thanks

    Oshkosh Built FMTV Doors

Anyone know if the doors on this Oshkosh built FMTV cab are retrofittable to an A1R? They are supposedly from a MAN cab and from what I have heard there are a variety of parts from man cabs that fit the Styr cab on our trucks. The cab appears to be the same Styr cab. Thanks
