Howdy,
Get your manuals and read them.
After going through your generator, double check what you are doing.
Here is a simple MEP-80x startup routine. video
Howdy,
The trays look similar, but they are different sizes. The parts manuals also do not jive with the proper fitment on later TM's

Lister 68489 can be found easily. The basic Lister-Petter engine has been around a long time.
Howdy,
Besides what has been said. I would suggest you look into other issues with your generator. It should not matter that the thermostat was a 165 or a 190, it should not have shut down due to high temp.
IMHO, I would flush the radiator and engine block. I would look at the belt, the fan...
Howdy,
I do know the ambient air temp will make running temp different. I have run the same loads during summer with it being 92 degrees out and things were all higher. Below are some testing logs with ambient temps during runs. Its still very much in ranged spec'd for the unit.
Acquired a...
Howdy,
OK, if the picture is from your generator, it is missing the bonding bar.
Below is a picture with a ground rod in the ground connected to a load bank.
The bonding bar is what ties the neutral and ground together.
In the field with ground rod = ground strap is in place.

Howdy,
The MEP-8xx series of generator all use diesel fuel return lines. After sometimes sitting with no fuel, or heat cold, no-use etc... they start to fail. The main issue is the lines start weeping fuel.

Howdy,
Like the manual says. It is going to be dependent on your normal ambient air temp.
Artic conditions?
0-100 degrees?
desert 60-120 degrees?
The standard oil which is called for is heavy duty diesel type 15W-40 which covers most conditions. Diesel engine and car gas engine are different...
Howdy,
I have a brand new current meter (400Hz thou) You could open it and put some white paint on the little 400Hz. I do not know if it would show the same...
The meter looks exactly like the 60Hz meter. Where it says 60Hz, this one says 400Hz.
Howdy,
nah, I would not want that large 60KW generator.
Ya need the little guy like this.

Howdy,
Essex Electro A427 Load Bank.
It depends on what year, and exactly which model... the fuses are different for a 427, a427, a427b etc...
For only 5 seconds... I would say the load bank is sensing a problem. I know you have used this before, has anything changed.. hook up correctly...
Howdy,
The only thing that your going to be mindful of... It's heavy when filled.
A MEP-802A even at 100% load with its tank and a 50 gallon drum will have you running 24/7 for 7 plus days straight.
Howdy,
Yes, a MEP 400Hz generator. Great if you are running radar.. starting a jet engine...
but, Parting it out is the best use to me. 80% of the unit is usable for the 60Hz models.
Howdy,
A SAE 5 hole is NOT evenly spaced. :)
It's like a puzzle. You have to hold the gasket and keep trying it a bunch of different ways, until... bingo, the right hole alignment.
