I understand all about the neutral bonding and how it needs to only be in one place. I'd be hooking up through my two houses main panels, so the neutral bond and grounding will be taken care of already at the panel.
Side note; on my MEP-802A, I put a protected switch to quickly make the bond on...
If I recall, to really get it lubricated properly, you need to remove it from the truck and flip it, then take it apart. Somewhere on this forum I read that is how someone got theirs freed up good.
Mine was very smooth and just had one small snag spot after install that was due to a bend in the cab that bad the gasket bulge and rub on some of the hardware. I pointed it out in the video. Only other issue is I'd like the brake handle to hold a bit better.
I ended up finding the 1919A4 that I was looking for and grabbed it;

Everything mounted up good but I needed to tweak it a little better.
Everyone,
Didn't realize that there was a dedicated forum on here for trucks that have guns mounted on them!
Anyways, when I got my M1078, I always planned to get a gun mounted on it. After getting the truck running and working properly, I found an M66 and installed it;
Took a bit...
I take it you have this in a FMTV from the picture?
Did it move free before you mounted it or was it on there when you got the truck? Is the gasket on there?
I installed one on my truck and found a few things that made it snag;
Cool truck. I knew from the start with my budget that I'd never be able to get anything "modern" on my gun truck build. So I did an 1919A4 with a crankfire. Had to modify a cradle a bit but it works fantastically and didn't cost an outrageous amount. Keeping it fed is a different story.
I would, but I have no data on my well motor. I have the original make/model, but the company was purchased 5 times and the data has since been lost. I do water/wastewater and usually can track that stuff down. Company that took over ultimately only kept old data for 5 years. So I don't know for...
I just went and looked up some transformers. It isn't as bad as I expected for a 50 amp rated one. I'd need to do two of them as I'd split the load across all three legs.
Here is a 50 amp...
This was the simple explanation I needed. I learned something important today, thank you! This makes TOTAL sense to me now. Never fully understood by 240v had 2 wires in some cases but not in others.
A transformer would be nice but I'm on a budget.
I didn't mention ground for simplicity but of course, yes, grounding wires are a MUST. I do sound a but dumb with these question but I promise I'm not that dumb, haha.
So, I would NOT use it in 240/416 mode, I would use it in 120/208v mode? But then I may have the issue of running 208v to...
Everyone,
I thought I had it figured out, but I am second guessing myself and I am supposed to go pick the generator up tomorrow.
My goal is to use this for backup power at the two houses on my property. They are on separate panels of 240v but on the same meter.
I understand that the...
At least you found the problem for sure now!
I can't help you on the rebuild, I just know it can be done.
Have an extra one someone gave me here that is an unknown condition with what they said was a rebuild kit for it that I just put away for a day that I might have nothing to do..... yeah...
If anything, you know that you will have 0% solenoid issues now. These old solenoids are bound to have a problem. Glad the videos were helpful! It sucks doing something for "nothing" sometimes, but, at least you know this will be a good part "forever".
