    Overhead console VIC-3 radio mount

Last week I built an overhead console to hold: * VIC 3 main box * two crew boxes * Augis phone to VIC-3 interface system * Red overhead light (preserve night vision, for night ops, to get chips and salsa for the game) * regular white overhead light (to get chips and salsa for the game, when...

    M1101 Bearing set

I'm removing the entire surge brake system and going to electric brakes on one of the 1101s. I Found the correct brakes that should fit this hub. Someone did it and posted pictures on etrailer. If not for that, I'd be searching still for brakes. Brakes drivers side...

TX to Idaho and back. Can deviate from route some.

Headed from North TX (Dallas area) to ID Falls area, but, can deviate a bit. Been to Hood many times. I know that route well if you have something there, if I have time, might be able to go get it. Leaving TX sometime after 22nd July.

front suspension mods AKA - ride improvement mods AKA - butt happiness mods

I love my trucks. My arse ... not so much. (I mean, I love it, but it doesn't like my trucks ride) For me, mostly, 80% of the time, these trucks are a novelty, not a 5-10 ton workhorse. The suspension is plenty stiff on them. Has anyone taken a couple springs out and put in airbags? I'd be...

Allbright contactor control for 24 v winch

I have a Warn 24v Industrial Series 18 winch without the control pack and wired remote controller. The packs seem to be about $434 and the control $137. Im thinking about going a different route. I see there are a lot of guys who buy these Allbright contactors. Anyone here ever "hot wire" a...

Did you lift your bed when you added 16.00's?

Common sense would tell me to lift the bed 2" since you added 4" of tire. Also, since 14.00's rub the bed slightly, how about switching that 1x board that is between bed and rail now, for a 4x4? I saw a pic from 98G where it was done. Anyone else do it?

Where did you mount your radio?

This is quite a resourceful crowd, and I know there are some awesome ideas out there about where to mount your boxes on a VIC-1 or VIC-3 system in a 5 ton or deuce. I have a NOS hard top in my garage and was placing boxes in different places in the truck to see what's best so I could mount a...

Attaching phone or iPod to VIC-3

Have a VIC-3 Master Control Station and two FFcrew boxes. All cables to connect the three and power it up. It currently works great as an intercom between two passengers. But, I want to know what the other capabilities are. Can I hook up a phone to it to make calls, talk on the phone? Or can I...

    TX and OK area Rally?

I see all these rallies in PA and CA, but nothing for us Texans (yes, I know we are welcome at most of your rallies) but I'd like one within 200 miles or so from Dallas. Surely, there has to be something?? I know there is one in Big Bend, but that is a loooong way from Dallas.

Diff leak, is this correct part number

Did my due diligence. I can't even find the right TM to look through, but maybe Beerslayer can help me on this as he posted some seal numbers, but I'm not sure they are the same part. First, the leak. The entire undercarriage looked like someone tied an open 5-gal bucket of fluid to the...

    Wiring H4 halogen bulb.

I bought some H4 24 v halogen headlights online. No wiring diagram, so wondering if anyone knows which tab corresponds to which numbered wire or which function? What is ground, normal, and high beams? The middle tab is the top of the light.

Need help with TOCNET intercom system

I started a thread about needing an intercom system for my 939. Now, I need to get someone's attention who knows something about the TOCNET system. I jumped in and bought two RACAL Raptor headsets on the advice of someone here. (They do seem nice) I bought a TOCNET intercom system (or a part...

Need headsets to communicate w passengers in 5-ton

Since there are bound to be 100 different kinds out there, what would you look for? Bose would be great, but I don't know what $ I'm getting into there. Maybe there are some affordable models? Can a good quality set (2 units and the intercom "unit") be had for $300? $400? Price is always a...

    Tow light assembly TMs

Don't know where this goes, but since I'm pulling a 5-ton with a 5-ton, seems here is as good as any. Being the military, I am sure they wrote a TM for this tow light. But I can't find anything. Specifically, looking for the diagram on wiring for this 8 pin plug. Where do you find an 8 pin...

    AC install on 923A2

First off, want to thank "Over" for his detailed AC install on his Non-A2. You can find it here. He saved me some trouble by figuring out problems before I had to! http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?125575-M923-air-conditioning-a-c-install-project Thanks to 74M35A2 for his "A2...

Anyone make their own "Frankencab" top?

Seems very doable, with the right tools. Pretty straight lines for the most part. Some bends, but nothing serious. Anyone try it? Or try making their own hard top for the 939's? I'm pretty crafty when it comes to metalwork. I'm not talking about the roll cage assembly and gun ring, just a...

Power loss or gain depending on transmission fluid?

Before we took the Mission 22 truck on the 2000 mile trip from Idaho, through the mountains of Colorado, to Texas, I decided a full fluid and filter change was a wise idea. Based on numerous threads here, I used 15-40 for the transmission and engine. I was torn. Numerous threads, TM's, posts...

What kind of wheel is this?

Is it a HET wheel? I can't find any good images of HET wheels on Google, or maybe my Goo skills are weak.

The Mission 22 Truck cab makeover

Since we will be driving the Mission 22 Truck (M923A2) from Idaho to Dallas Texas, we decided our old backs needed a more comfortable cab. Im currently doing similar mods in my tan 923A2 in Dallas now, so the process was similar, although, we did a lot more to this truck. First pull ill out...

923A2 Cab makeover - new seats!

I'll keep it short and use lots of pics. That's the way I like to read them! "Ol' Yeller" ... yeah, I know, not very original. But that's what she's called now. So, Yellers batteries were toast (didn't take photos, this is my 923a2 in Idaho) so I removed them. Tip: hire a kid to haul these...
