High air pressure on 923 Driving me crazy

My experience with over-pressure was finally cured by replacing the "unloader valve" in the head of the compressor. It lets the compressor to go into a "free wheeling"/coasting mode, where it doesn't pump air. In the meantime, I replaced a bunch of stuff, as suggested above. The only thing...

    Stump jumpin' deuce frame damage

The damage to cross members is serious & can lead to structural failures. Like raising a loaded dump bed on the slightest of uneven ground, can be the last straw.

    M101 rear latch

I think a chain saw file would take care of the notch problem, and not even burn any paint.

You say its always smoked.... what color? White or black?

    1951 m37

Not sure you can buy actual lines that are "fits". They aren't hard to make yourself, but you need the proper flaring tool for the reverse flare. Not sure what they call it. Parts places have an assortment of brake tube lengths. They come with fittings on both ends, but I usually end up...

broke off air tank petcock in M135.......

I'll look tomorrow, on one of my 'bones' tomorrow . In the mean time, when you get the tank out, heat the threaded part that is left on the tank to red temp, let it cool, then use your easy out. Hopefully, you didn't mess-up the threads.

    Drilling the manifold

One trick is to coat the flutes of the tap with grease. The cuttings will tend to stick in the grease. Re-coat the tap with fresh, clean grease, every couple of terns.

M105A2 Big Wheel tongue stand... anyone modify it to jack?

I have an original trailer with the big wheel. You about need a separate jack to do a regular hook-up, especially if there is a load in it. I always use a Handyman jack. The integral jack of the more modern landing gear always seem like the way to go. If you want to go that way, trade with...

Not just parts, but a whole lot of plunder too.

How do i jump the starter directly on M939A2?

It wouldn't hurt to remove all those wires & clean the terminals, adding diaelectric grease, so you know the connections are good for another 20 years.

I want a flat black painted CUCV (like the two that I saw on the way home from work)!

A better, and certainly more durable paint would be the flat black that Caterpillar uses for a trim paint on their equipment. It brushes well or sprays. Just go to the parts counter at a Cat dealer and ask for a gallon.

    Got broken into today

I had a problem like yours when I would go to town, stuff would end up missing from my pickup. Its hard to lock everything. I was doing a lot of coyote trapping at the time too. One time I accidently left a # 2 trap set in some stuff in the truck. It was my favorite trap, so I had a big cow...

    XM-778 2 1/2 ton Cargo Truck, W/W

I agree that the grove pattern is "factory". I've played around with a hot knife re-grooving some drive tires. Its terribly time consuming & always can be identified as hand done. In the old days as a kid, I remember seeing Greyhound busses with re-grooved tires on them.

    M101A1 Floor Replacement

Before you go to the expense of sandblasting, I would consider replacing the bed, if not the whole frame. If your not taking the bed completely off, then sandblasting, your wasting your time. That whole cross member is probably rotten & your going to be chasing rot forever. You do have some...

Fuel injection and turbo on Dodge 230

The M37 is a fine truck as it is - something of a usable antique. Its HP output matches the rest of the drive train. As it is, its not hard to break axles. Increase the HP & you will just fined the next weak spot in a row. I have had mine for over 50 years. Be sure to put new valve guides...

    Brake Lever Question

Not much, if at all is the practical answer, without modification. One consideration though, is the fine adjustment for wear is that little knob at the end of the lever. Brakes that are left on for extended times tend to accumulate rain, etc., that causes rust on the adjustment thread there in...

That thread again? Towing with a 5ton...

No stock answer. Just get the best one you can afford, and start towing stuff. As you get experience, you'll learn what is best.

    What to clean after mudding

Can you get back through that mud hole loaded with fire wood? "What needs cleaning?" The short answer is, everything.
