Well, when the brake drums alone weigh almost 90 pounds each, it adds up quick. I think I remember hearing that just the center chunk with the gears in it weighed somewhere around 400 pounds.
Gimp: yes it is the cup washer that goes on the short bolt on the bottom of the brake shoe. I don't have a pic handy, but it's shown in the link to Erik's surplus above. If you have one, I would gladly purchase it from you. I also need the u-shaped washer that holds the brake shoe on at the...
I have my Deuce torn down for axle boots and seals, and I've somehow managed to lose one of the concave washers that goes on the short brake retaining bolt. I was looking through the TM and found it in the parts list, and it says it is part of a kit. I looked on Saturn's website, and found the...
I had the same problem on a zippered one I bought. I emailed Mike with some pictures, and he shipped me another one very quickly at no charge. No complaints here.
The only thing with that, is I don't recall seeing GAA at any parts house. Is there another grease that will do the same job, or do I need to get some from somewhere else? I'm assuming that GAA is Military?
This might be a silly question, but do you pack the hubs with the same grease you pack the bearings with? I'm in the middle of doing this on my deuce, and I never realized there were so many different types of grease. lol Any recommendations on a type/brand of grease?
Even if you're fuel is turned up too high, it doesn't sound like you pull the truck hard enough to hurt it. I'm the same way as you on the rpm's. I'll run mine up to 2300 or so out on the highway, but running around town it stays about 2000. seems like if it's running at redline, that when it...
Nice to "meet" you as well. Maybe one day soon I'll get some batteries for mine and drive down that way. He did mention that, seemed like he was pretty stoked about it.
No problem, glad I could help. This place is where I've learned everything I know about them, it's a great resource.
Haha. Yeah I do, he is always telling me about his buddy with the Deuce, and y'all riding around. I recognized the truck in that picture you posted from one he showed me.
Wow!!! I just ran across this, and some more of your work, and I must say that it is amazing! You truly have a gift in your attention to detail, your work almost makes me feel like I'm looking at real pictures. Truly awesome, thank you so much for sharing!
There used to be a thread around where a fellow took 12 deuce rims and made 6 10 inch wide ones from them. I can't seem to find it though. May be a cheaper alternative to HEMTT rims. May not be though, depending if you have someone else do them.
Edit: found it thanks to Gimpy...
