Picked up 6 MEP-802A gensets and will be documenting making them all runners here

it could be.. IMO warrants at the least a good examination since it was bound up

shoot me the NSN's of the kits you need and I will see what I can dig up. I would plan on atleast a set of rings on the 2007. Good immersion of the pistons in evaporust, rings, and a light hone. Wont be as good as new or anything but you can probably get some good hours out of it.

    Adding a pony motor to a M936

Also I am working on getting the tech specs of the 939 wrecker main pump. Drawings and specs are available but only to DLA account holders.

    Adding a pony motor to a M936

If you want to do a mep-003a engine. I would get with billypop http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?117754-New-Rebuilt-MEP-003-engines&highlight=mep+engine If you want to run a pump off a complete generator...I guess it could be done, probably need to design a flange and shaft to mount...

    Adding a pony motor to a M936

I wonder what that little pump makes for GPM at half the PSI? I am sure there is a calculator for it, but just tossing ideas here. Your looking at a mep-004a engine for that power level. It could work if you were to find a cheap 400hz version, scrap/part out everything but the engine and some...

Looking good :) on the one you plan to retreat. Degrease it before the evaporust. It seems to work better as close to 'pure' as you can get it. So blclean bare steel with rust. Stuff is liquid miracle juice

    Adding a pony motor to a M936

For light loads. The heavy rotating mass and low end torque at 1800RPM makes a killer combination. Look at the mep-803a vs mep-003a conversations going on now. Smaller engine with better hp/weight, but less lugging ability and less torque. 003a can take a bigger overload than an 803A. REALLY...

    Adding a pony motor to a M936

003A is 16HP at 1800 and 18HP at 2000 RPM Conservatively. I would hate to use an engine much bigger than it. A modern direct injection diesl, like a reefer engine might be a better choice. better HP/weight ratio. I guess my APU idea was more of an auxiliary functions, booming around, sucking in...

Was stuck on service road and 1070 won't start.

Whats your voltage at the starter on the battery cable? And voltage there while in start position?

You might need a few treatments of evaporust. I buy one of these a year or so. SOOO worth it. http://www.rustremover.net/evapo-rust_5-gallons_dehydrated_concentrate_makes_5-gallons.htm Lay some clay in there like a seal in the corner and fill those things up to the top and let em soak. Suck it...

    Adding a pony motor to a M936

Found it. This is the M88a2 (hatz version) APU pump. Like the M88 crewman said it wont run some stuff. But I think it will do a wrecker fine. If we can get the flow and PSI of the wrecker pump then all will be revealed...

Picked up 6 MEP-802A gensets and will be documenting making them all runners here

I might be tempted to fill those cylinder with evapo-rust with some light wire brushing. Even get some clay and run a bead around the piston to seal it for a few days. If nothing else it will make dissasembly much easier. Best case is you can clean it, give it a quick flex honing and run it...

    Adding a pony motor to a M936

I posted the info from the M88apu at one point or maybe I sent it to Jesus gatos.. I will find it and repost here, and we can look at the specs on the pump.

    Adding a pony motor to a M936

A 6 cylinder seems kind of overkill and.large. the APU I mentioned is a 2cyl and it runs all the m88 hydraulics

Send the head to the machine shop shot blaster with a rotisere. Valve job and seals and it will be good. You can try pounding the pistons down with theme crank.out. might get away with rings and a hone. I haven't priced an engine kit or sleeves like I have for the old 002/003. Wonder what the...

    Adding a pony motor to a M936

I got a nice APU that would work for you guys. I think 'JesusGatos' has another he may or may not be using as well. Its from M88 tank recovery vehicles. Self contained Hatz diesel, hydraulic pump, and a 400? amp 24v generator. Nice little tight package. I scored a control panel for it as well...

I would probably pull the head. Doesnt add much cost to where your at now. Those exhaust ports look rough. I would rather pull it and potentially save a mostly good engine vs force a rebuild at the expense of being wrong and wasting cash on some gaskets

Also they changed the pot setup on the two different board revisions, a good shot of the whole board would be nice if you could :)
