Yeah, it just started squealing with the warmer weather, and I plan on replacing all the belts next week, but nothing was slipping that I could see. The belt squeal is only on start-up. Both alternators are spinning and no gen lights glowing at me. Problem is, with the volt-meter indicating...
So I've been driving the M1009 as a daily driver for about a month now with no real incidents. Then tonight I drove to the grocery store. When I came out, and fired it up, I flipped up the service light switch and pulled out the knob. No lights. No headlights, no taillights, no turn signals...
Does anyone have a recommended part number for a heavier duty starter relay? I was going to pick up the original from NAPA, but after reading this thread, I want to be sure I don't end up having to buy a replacement in another couple months.
So yesterday, it was about 10 degrees out when I started the M1009- probably the coldest start for her yet. When I got to work (only about a 1.5 mile drive), I noticed a small amount of coolant leaking from under the driver side- looked like it may have been coming from area around the overflow...
And don't tell the PFC "Don't f*** with the 'ejection seat button'." in a Humvee. He'll inevitably hit the fire suppression switch, popping your ear drums, and resulting in the crew "rapidly egressing the vehicle" looking like a lot of powdered donuts.
If only I had video of that day in...
Okay, so you inspired me. Obviously it's not as cool as what you did with yours, but it's functional, and looks a little better than it did-
I used two of the newer style canteen covers with MOLLE attachments and strapped them on, and then put the 99-cent plastic cup holders inside. For a guy on...
Well, the weather warmed up and no further problems. How much of a PITA was the flex plate replacement? $$? I don't really think this will be a problem, but I'm a bit of a neurotic boy scout. I like to be prepared for anything (hence the footlocker filling up with spare CUCV parts).
:ditto:
Pretty much verbatim from the TM (and your driver's side sun visor if it's stock):
1. Front axle is open
2. You may drive in 2H with the hubs locked, however you may experience a decrease in fuel efficiency and steering response (there's no power driving the front axle, but it's still...
Alright so I drove it home from work for lunch and didn't seem to have any issues. The noise is gone for now. The fluids, including the P/S reservoir, are all good, and it was worse when it was idling than when driving, so I'm pretty sure it's not a wheel bearing. It wasn't a liquid-type...
I'm pretty sure there was a brush guard/grill posted in the classifieds here. Or it might have been Craigslist. I know they're out there- just saw them a few day ago.
I only had it running for about 15 minutes. I always wait until the high-idle kicks down before I drive off. Only have a 1.3 mile drive to work, but I let it run in the parking lot for another 10 minutes. It was running for 20 minutes total and was still thrumming pretty hard when I shut if...
When I bought the M1009, I really didn't intend to do anything to make it "prettier". It was going to be a beater for daily driving and weekend play in the woods. But now, you've got me thinking...
Looks great!
So, the M1009 has been running great, changed the oil, air & fuel filters. All other fluid levels are good. But the weather has been below 30 degrees for the past 3 weeks. This morning, when I started her, she fired right up, but sounded pretty rough. Lots of engine rattle and growl. With...
When I picked mine up from GL, on the 200 mile drive home I got about 17mpgs. Changed the oil/filter, air filter and fuel filter, and added about 8 oz of diesel kleen to the tank. This past weekend on a 2-hour highway drive I got just over 20mpg. It's great for a daily driver as long as you...
Check GL. I think there were some coming up or already posted in either Jeff City or down in Arkansas. Sorry to hear about the break-in attempt. (My brother got broken into recently, so I feel your pain.) What exactly are you looking for on the "part-out"? I may know a guy who knows a guy...
