Alright, so we successfully recovered 2 M1009s today! Left Kansas City about 0730, got into Jeff City about 1030. Met the GL guy at the guardshack and drove a block down the road to the lot. Holy crap! there are a lot of vehicles getting ready to come up on auction. At least 20 M1009s, a...
So after about 2 weeks, just found out the EUC cleared. A buddy and I are driving to Jefferson City tomorrow to pick up our M1009s and his M101 trailer. Got with GL this afternoon and set up the appointment. Our contact on site says one isn't starting now (they were both driven to the location...
^Ditto. rhino line or lineX if you have the money. Otherwise, i think JC Whitney has a do-it-yourself kit for about 50 bucks. I'd say ditch the floor mats.
Anyone ever try the el-cheapo spray in stuff from walmart? just curious...
Awesome! Funny- my kid's about the same age and has the same shirt. The wife saw a 109 a few weeks ago and starting talking about wanting to do something similar with it. Just bought an M1009 though, so it will have to wait a bit.

Funny thing- the wife is actually the one that wants the Deuce! She saw an M109 version and thinks it would be the ultimate tactical camper/BOV. Yeah, I know, I'm a lucky, lucky man!
Hey all-
So, um, yeah. I'm gonna swallow my pride and confess, I'm a total newb. After driving the snot out of our humvees in Iraq, I decided I was sold on MVs. Didn't have the $ for one of those, so I defaulted to the predecessor. Have driven a few 1009s and love 'em. Almost bought one...
Just curious- should I ever run into this problem- what are the specs on the GP card? Part#, vendors, approx. price, etc. ?
(My plan for my new M1009 is to keep a stash of spare parts so I'm not scrambling if/when something happens to my ride. )

Well, if you've read any of my other posts, you'll see I finally bought one! Won a GL auction out of Jefferson City last week. 1986 with 46k miles on it. Cosmetically immaculate, and said to run. Apparently these were from a Natl. Guard unit that just recently upgraded to HMMWVs. Supposedly...
Yes they did! I had hoped to sneak one for right at or below $2k. No such luck. I managed to get mine for a ways under $3k, but I saw a couple get downright ridiculous! Upwards of $4k- guess those sliding side windows were a big hit.
Incidentally, though I've driven these and humvees on...
Jefferson City, MO had (10) M1009s on GL. Been waiting on these for a couple weeks. Had some up to the end bidding wars going on a few, but me and a buddy snagged a couple nice ones. Funny thing, though. I bid higher on a nicer one, and the bidding stalled and died. He waited on a less pretty...
Good point about not cluttering up the wiki, and the inevitable downward slide. But see, now the cool thing that's happened is if someone searches for the CUCV wiki, this should show up, too. Just part of my evil plot...:-D
I'm pretty sure this thread has been officially hijacked. Which reminds me of a joke.
A boy notices that their neighbor kisses his wife on the front porch every morning on his way to work. He asks his dad, "Why don't you do that?"
Dad says, "Are you kidding? I've never even met the woman!"...
When I get a bit of time, I'll add the ones I can find, but as a noob, there's still a lot I don't know. And as always the recommendations of the veterans are pretty valuable. More comments always welcome.

Suggestions for CUCV Wiki info
So I was looking at the CUCV wiki and reading through the TMs, and just thought the wiki could be updated a little bit with some more info. I'm just a noob, so I'm probably not the guy to post the info. Of course, I realize the TMs have all the required info, but...
So, a couple of these replies look pretty good. Just wondering if there's anyone else out there in the area wanting to sell a solid M1009 for under $3k. I'll hold out for a few more days to see if there are any other offerings from sellers, but I'm ready to buy.
How much highway driving have you done with this? I'm thinking about a long trip in whatever I get. How long have you had it/how much have you driven it? Just want to know what I'm looking at. Looks and sounds good, but what else can you tell me?
Wow, that looks great! So are you saying you're interested in selling when you get the title??? Just curious. It seems there are more of these around than I had thought. I'm more concerned about drivability and mechanical soundness than cosmetic issues, but it helps if it looks good, too...
I don't know- I tried to convince my wife for years to let me get a CUCV. Finally just took her to drive one off road. I drove the snot out of it. She looked like a kid at 6-flags! She had to drive it, too and after about a half-hour, she says, "Can we buy one?" I'm like, "You're asking...
