Try draining some engine oil. if some water comes out then that would be a sign of rusted cylinder walls. Do not try to turn with the starter anymore until you find the problem. That's a good way to do some real damage. On any new machine always try turning over by hand at least one full turn.
Could this be a Tobyhanna rebuild? Good post for it here https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?174636-Tobyhanna-modified-mep-803a-assistance . Sure sounds like a bad connection or contact in the switch. Could disconnect the batteries and cycle through all switch positions a bunch of times...
First unit, hold switch on start longer after unit starts, no it wont hurt anything. Oil pressure sender or connections could be bad. I think this has 2 senders, one for gauge and one for low oil pressure shut down. Second unit sounds like battery connections or connections to the engine, also...
Here's a link for ball joints. Lots of sizes and both right hand and left hand threads http://www.surpluscenter.com/Power-Transmission/Rod-Ends
This place has a wide variety of stuff
First off, have you down loaded the tech manuals for this generator? What is the history, did you just get it and always been like this. Does it generate okay when running? Any trouble shooting have you done? The more info you can provide will help the good folks here come up with a solution...
I am assuming that you are talking about the ones in the picture
These are called fully insulated 1/4 inch female sliding connectors. I like the ones with nylon insulation and the ones with the funnel in the barrel which makes inserting the wire much easier, especially in awkward positions. IMO...
First off, I don't have any experience with this pump. The first thing I would try would be using spray carb cleaner or lacquer cleaner or acetone to clean the bore and piston. Saturate a rag and clean thoroughly and see if that helps. If not the next thing would be is using some silicone...
I think you're on the right track with the fuel and spark. Do replace the spark plugs. I would try to go with the civilian ones. I have a lawn mower with a CCKB engine and it takes champion H8 or H8C spark plugs. Parts and service manual for this engine can be found here "...
Yes, you do have to be careful with the oxy. Leaky intake valve because of a piece of carbon, sticky valve or other reason it will back flash. That is like the exhaust on a jet engine for probably less than a second, but long enough to burn flesh. That's why I put that caution in my post...
A trick I have used several times is oxygen from a torch. Use the cutting tip and leave the gas valve closed, turn on the one oxy valve so you have oxy when you press the valve. Put intake manifold back on, while turning engine over press the oxy valve directly in the intake manifold. Keep all...
Also, if the Hertz gauge doesn't read accurately, there is a screw slot below the glass in the center that can be used to adjust the reading on the gauge to match your Fluke meter. If the meter still doesn't seem right than more troubleshooting might be warranted.
I have repurposed quite a few LP tanks and usually if the tank still has pressure from the LP they are usually rust free, but if the tank is sitting for a long time with the valve open you can find some rust. Just be safe when repurposing LP tanks or any other tanks that has had fuel in it...
I agree 100%. Also does the AC work on utility power. Also are you running off utility power then immediately unplug and connect to generator, needs to sit 10 - 15 minutes for the pressure to equalize. We do need to know the name plate Specs.
Assuming the 4K means 4000 watts, the maximum output in amps at 240V is 16.5A. 1 - Wire between generator and connection is too small, smallest wire size should be 12awg, larger for longer runs. 2 - The AC draws more power than this unit can handle, check the plate on the AC unit. An AC unit...
Check with manufacture to be sure, especially if using 2 12v chargers. Some years ago I was working on an excavator and needed to drill several holes. Used my stat power inverter to power the drill. The excavator was 24v so hooked it on one battery. That worked good until I started the machine...
