Won an M1083A1 - 1900 mile recovery trip soon! (ND to CA)

Allison tech found that the output speed sensor (OSS) was shot. From the error codes we were researching, plus the non-functioning speedometer, that seems to make sense. Part is on order, earliest arrival in 48 hours. He was not able to get communications with the transmission control module...

Thanks for all the assistance tonight. One more post - some pictures of the good times when we were rolling through Montana and Utah. My wife was having a blast driving it - really enjoyed it. Second photo is the amber LED warning lights for night driving. Last shot is at a lunch stop...

Won an M1083A1 - 1900 mile recovery trip soon! (ND to CA)

The P0721 (most recent error code) is interesting. Found several references saying that it's related to shaft speed sensor signal. Starting with the sensor module itself, other downstream problems could be wiring issues, etc. before it gets to the TCM. Sounds like this kind of error could be a...

NDT, that could explain current behavior, googling codes now. Will also look for Allison support here in SLC if we need to go that route. Sent from my 0PJA2 using Tapatalk

Thanks suprman, yes, the LBCD is still bypassed, both 12 and 24v sides. Will try unplugging and replacing the military connector. Then retrace our exact steps we did the other day. Be right back. Sent from my 0PJA2 using Tapatalk

Won an M1083A1 - 1900 mile recovery trip soon! (ND to CA)

Went ahead and shut down because we can't leave it running in gear. Waited 10 minutes and attempted a restart. Dash came up as it should, trans controller displayed NN, tried starter button with no response, no relays activating in the PDP, although Neutral Start relay is energized as it should...

Won an M1083A1 - 1900 mile recovery trip soon! (ND to CA)

Just south of Pocatello, ID, going well. Good roads on I-90 & I-15. Except for a few construction zones with one lane each way, roads have been smooth sailing. Hit a couple of sections with 6% grade yesterday while still in Montana; no problem. Stopping about every hour to stretch our legs and...

Won an M1083A1 - 1900 mile recovery trip soon! (ND to CA)

Just settling in for a night stop in Dillon, MT. Making good time with three of us. Truck is again idling in the parking lot, and we're doing split shifts so that one of us is always with it. The truck has been running great all day with no issues. We're getting more used to how it handles, and...
