THANKS!
I don’t have a welder available at the moment, so I will probably have to do it a little differently. I do have a grinder, though, and I’m certainly willing to sacrifice a socket and I have a ½ drive breaker bar.
I’m not quite sure what the “accessory drive” is, but I’ll bet I can...
Thanks Jon, you must be a better searcher than I.
The suspense mounts!
I called Cummins of Denver, CO and asked if they had such a tool for an NHC-250 and he quoted me $4??,?? (I got a ringing in my ears when I heard “four hundred …” and couldn’t hear the rest ). He said the part number...
Can anyone tell me what an “engine barring tool” looks like or how to turn the engine (NHC 250) over in small increments?
I am getting ready to swap out an automatic transmission in my M923A1 and have been searching TMs for information on how to do that little task. I have found lots of good...
Hey, thanks for the pointer. We slow readers, it’s that lysdexia thing, have a hard time managing these long threads with 266 posts.
Like I said, at one time (and possibly still, though I’m now working on an M923 to replace the deuce) I was considering re-powering my M109. A couple of years ago...
I doubt that you can start those trucks on two batteries from WalMart. If you’re determined to buy batteries, buy the biggest WalMart has and a few cans of starter fluid. Start out by putting all of them in one truck and starting it. Run it ‘til they’re charged up again, then jump that truck to...
I recently lost low gear in my 923A1. An overhaul is horribly expensive. I bought a pull-out from 91W350, Glen, in Salina, KS. I hope that after next weekend it will be installed. Glen scraps trucks occationally, so you might PM him and see if he can help you, OR search this web site for...
One question, since the transmission you pulled out was an overdrive transmission and I doubt if the Allison AT545 is and your new engine probably has the same RPM range as the old, what about your top end speed?
I have considered re-powering my deuce and that was a major issue that came up.
Were you told that they need batteries, or are you assuming that because they said it needs a jump?
I have bought 2 "does not run" trucks and both had NEW batteries. One had a loose battery connector and the other batteries were just discharged. Don't spend $$ on batteries until you know. Since...
You get the Farmer's Association's Golden Bailing Wire Award for that work! I'm impressed and glad you're back home with all your equipment in your own yard.
This tells me that I need to get a lot more familiar with how the air system works on my truck.
I’m real glad you’re home and all...
Hayes, KS!!! That's where the transmission, for which you are hauling the replacement, started going out. That's also where my deuce skidded off the road in the rain when I picked it up at Riley 7 years ago.
We're anxiously awaiting news.
I told you wrong, there's weather coming your way...
There is no doubt that the men driving or riding in the gun trucks deserve a big hand. From me “Welcome home, Brother”.
In every battle scenario, there’s a group of unsung heroes and I’d like to tack a story on the end of this thread.
In Vietnam some of the unsung heroes would be the guys that...
I know that the engine in that beast must be terribly anemic and that vehicle has huge historic value if restored to original condition. That being said, wouldn't it be fun to give it a serious power train?
If you are going to re-purpose the truck, how about making it into an off-road camper like I’m trying to do with my M109?
I have to say that it is the ugliest truck I have seen in quite a while, even uglier than an M211! I LOVE IT!
It is my understanding that if the property (the 2 trucks and the jeep) has been on city property for a long time, they have become city property. I think the tow company idea is the best, but who am I to say; most of my legal training comes from watching too much TV.
RE the Jeep, it is a late...
Urgent pm sent! We're almost neighbors!
I may need you to go by Glenn's to pick up a transmission and possibly tires w/wheels.
I have a generator and a heavy duty battery charger that you might want to borrow so that you can charge up off-the-grid, along with 4 good batteries. Also add...
What I'd really like, now that I know more about M939 trucks is an M925A2 that I can bob and stick my M109 box on.
Anybody have one for sale? I'm going to run through the classified section this weekend.
