My M109 has the exhaust routed under the cab and out between the back duels. There's a muffler right under the passenger the size of a small kitchen trash can. The exhaust noise isn't bad.
I once insulated the floarboards of a '70 Ford F100 and was amazed at the reduction in the noise. One...
Well all,
I'm not sure if I will have any roling green iron anymore; the whole thing blew up with my wife last week and I don't have a truck that can hit the road.
I would love to meet everybody in Colorado and talk about places to go, anyway.
M920, the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is...

I may have 2 options, ship it all the way home, 900 mi., or ship it 100 mi. to my daughter's place in Dublin, TX where I can work on it later. I think my daughter's are probably missing my old green M932A1 by now.
I was just granted the dubious honor of being the highest bidder on a " Vehicle drained " M923A2 at Ft Hood, TX. Although I have driven a deuce 500 Mi. and an M923A1 1800 mi. on recoveries, I am inclined to see what it would cost to have this one hauled.
Some questions in case I want to tempt...
Probably gonna have to wait; we are getting new snow and I have to work outside in a gravel lot. About water boiling off during the drive from GA to TX, I have my doubts that it would because the tranny temp never got that high. I watched all the guages carefully.
Lots of information, thanks...
I came on this thread in another search. I have an M923A1 that I bought specifically to replace the chassis on my M109A2 that can hardly get out of its own shadow. The project is delayed by a dead transmission.
I was planning to go a little farther with mine. If I bend the exhaust pipe so...
In Nov of 2012 I drove the truck from Ft. Benning, GA to Dublin, TX, 80 mi. south of Ft. Worth. Because of family issues and tire issues with the truck we left it there. Occasionally when starting up from a dead stop it would shudder before engaging.
We left the truck there for 13 months...
Dead Transmission Part II
I am trying one last attempt to fix my failed transmission in my M923A1. In the morning after sitting 36 hr. in relatively cold weather, (~5 degrees f.) the forward gears, possibly only low gear, failed completely, but reverse continued to work. It sounds like my...
Why do they do that?
If I bid on a truck like that and win, what would I have to do to it to drive it home? I'm serious about knowing if they drain the batteries.
When a particular GL site says "Vehicle drained", does that mean they drained the differentials, transfer case, transmission, engine, power steering? Surly not the batteries!!
We'll get you taken care of somehow. Jon (steelandcanvas) is good hearted guy and I feel like I need to pay-it-forward. One more question, how big are the seats? I drive a Crown Vic. If I empty my trunk can I get one or more in it and one in the back seat? Right now I'm a bit short of...
That was a pic I clipped from GL. I'm sure that they were flat towing it to DRMO and weren't paying attention. How many times have you towed a small trailer and got to wondering if it was still there? My avatar is me coming out of Ft. Riley towing the Bronco I drove out to get the truck...
What are "a few things". It's kind'a hard to answer your request without knowing what and how big it is.
About a year ago I saw that CSU got an M35A3 that they were modifying; are the "things" off of that truck?
Like I said, I have no idea how having the wrong springs in the governor on a deuce affects the truck’s running. Having screwed around with the governor on the LD engine, I doubt it does very much. However, there are several other disadvantages to using a ’66 deuce with a load that probably...
