I'm just welcoming others to the east coasts best off road trails. Have your old man fun in florida. Post some pics. I'm might make the long haul myself.
Thanks for the suggestions. I just ordered two new front springs. I will order the rear springs when one butt cheek sits higher than the other again. I would still like to know what a peg leg is.
I'm in southern wv about 45 minutes from bluefield. I'm more for the calmer trails myself. I just like being out for the ride. It's a beautiful place. I'm here year round and work for myself, so I'll let you guys make the plans. WV is and always was a union (Yankee) state.
Sorry, it took me a while to find the email with my plugs part #. You have the same ones that I bought and installed. Like I said before, they work great and I haven't had any problem after 8 months.
I live about five miles from one of the the hatfield mcoy trailheads. It's really an extensive trail. I took my m1008 on it last fall. It can be as simple as cross country trail riding or as insane as you desire. Many optional hill climbs. It is primarily a quad trail, but is wide enough to...
Do you have the part/item #. I have bought command component glow plugs and had no problems with them thus far. I wouldn't say they "glow" any better than oem.
The frame shows no signs of being bent. I will carefully measure it front to back. I will also check the ball joints. To bad the 3/8 mining belt mud flaps were looking great.
During the installation of homemade mud flaps, I noticed that the drivers side of my 85 m1008 is sitting about an inch lower than the passenger side. I measured off the frame, in a level garage, for these results. Note, I am not fat so don't blame obesity for the drivers side sinking. :cookoo:
It always better to design and make it yourself; however, this tow bar is too weak. You don't want to learn this the hard way. After a few major mishaps, I have developed a tendency to over build things. A properly built tow bar would take time good materials, and careful design / research.
I'm satisfied with this solution. After reading the operating manual, I realized that I was trying to shift into 4-H without moving and while in drive. According to the standard procedure, shifting the transfer case into 4-H should be done while moving. I was able to get the truck to shift into...
Thanks, I'll give it a try. I've tried slightly moving the tcase shifter around, but many awful grinding noises occur. I've got the suspicion that I'll be learning to rebuild a transfer case soon. I also replaced the vaccum modulator on the transmission the day before this happened. Any unlikely...
The complete lack of engagement, to include the rear axle, in 4-High points to the transfer case. If the locking hubs
were at fault, 4-Low wouldn't work properly. I'm unsure of where range fork shifter pads are located.
I'm locking in the hubs and shifting the transfer case into 4-High. No engagement occurs. The truck won't move at all. When shifted into 4-Low, proper engagement occurs. (Pineville, West Virginia)
I am having problems with my four wheel drive(1985 M1008). Everything worked correctly until today. I can easily shift through the transfer case ranges; however, 4-H will not engage. Four Low works well. Any ideas?
