I was thinking about doing something very similar to that with a M200 trailer. I figured the larger trailer would be more stable with the high center of gravity load.
It looks as though it were ment to be. I've always had an unexplained weakness for the contact main't trucks and the duelly ones in particular. I also think that this will be the perfect recovery rig. Great job sir!
The 5 ton multi had 11x20 tires instead of the deuce's 9x20, and the 5 ton adapter will work for 11x20 tires on a 2.5 ton. The 395's are quite a bit bigger than the 11x 20 though. 46 inches I believe compared to the 42 for the 11x20.
That would've been a great trick to have in the bag. The fuel lines are in bad shape, (where's all that diesel coming from?). Would've saved us some time and aggravation for sure. When they go back to load the truck up Ferro is taking a Jerry can with a generator feed attachment, that should...
Welcome from SC! Congratulations on your purchase. TM's are located in the resource section of this websight. Get your grease gun out and go to town. Geting familiar with the brakes and fuel delivery system now will save you headaches later.
It was a blast getting that old gal to fire up again. 10 year old fuel, leaky fuel lines and all, she purred like a kitten, for a little while at least. I really wish that I could be a part of the actual recovery also, but I have to work:(.
I had the same issue, I'm 6'7". The solution was to pull the clutch pedal out and cut a new notch so that we could effectively lower the pedal. You may have to play with it a little to get sufficient free travel and such.
So how this will work is...I'll let the oil settle in the IBC tote and draw from the top of it to run through my up flow setup. Off of the small hole in the settling barrel, I installed a valve and will pipe my filters off of that. The idea is that it has to run sloooow. Maybe a 30 gallon batch...
Stage 2 is basically an up-flow settling tank. I'm usin a 55 gallon drum for the settling tank, the dirty oil is introduced through a down pipe that extends to about 5 in. from the bottom of the tank. I used a 30 gallon drum for the mixing tank/head tank that is mounted upside down on top of the...
Well I drew the lucky straw and got to stand fire watch over the holiday. Other than roving around every couple of hours and monitoring several cameras and other displays, there isn't anything going on. No one else around. That left a whole lot of time to surf the net for WMO processing ideas...
As far as location and the need to keep it from freezing you could place the keg in the cab. Esp. if you were running 2 springer seat bases, between the seats next to the back of the cab would be out of the way and keep it from freezing. Just a thought.
