Very rare truck, I have only seen one in over 40 years of military vehicle collecting. I will see if I have any thing on them. I drove the MB5 crash trucks while in the Marines.

On the head lights that is a metal black out cover that bolts on to the grill if I remember right. It blocks "some" of the headlight. I have only seen one original set and it was on a WWII jeep I saw in 1976! so work with me here on this. I have seen reproduction ones for sell in Supply Line...
Ok, I am home. Do you work at FRC east? That is where I have been working for the last 17 years, after my retirement from the Marines (that other gun club). I am down the road from you on Newport, when you go down highway 70, into Newport, that is one of my trucks setting at the gun shop. Stop...
Could you be talking about Sarafan? They were a big military vehicle dealer up in NY back in the day. He sold out most of his stuff and moved to Florida, restarted a smaller military vehicle dealership, but he then passed away.
NDT is 100% correct, White Owl parts company, Route One surplus...
We did not really have military vehicle collectors here till the late 70s that was about the time the MVCC came into being.
The first set of pictures of the cut up DUKWs in Australia, could have been here. White Owl parts company here in North Carolina did that with all the DUKWs they got in...
Short wheel base without winch, they were mainly used to haul artillery. I had two CCKWs, a closed cab that I LOVED!!! and a very rear air transportable open cab CCKW (it was designed to be taken apart to fit into two C47s).
Great trucks, a little on the lite side for hauling, you will love the...
I am with you on this. the vehicle being misplaced. While I was in the Marines, we had a tractor on our training airfield for cutting the grass around the airfield. One day we had a NIS agent show up who wanted to see the tractor and the serial number. Turns out the main base was missing several...
Way off track is in the ball park with his statement.
A friend who has done several frame off restorations on WWII vehicles did a scout car that was one of the ones returned from Greece, years ago. It was very complete, he said it was the hardest vehicle he had ever restored.
If I found it, I...

Do you still have any good friends in the Army with connections to your historians in the photo lab? Back in the 1970s, I remember going on Fort Jackson with my mom to the commissary. There was this big warehouse on the base next to the rail line. The night before it had burnt down. I...
One more item to add, join or hook up with a MVPA group in your state. I have had as many as 35 military vehicles at one time. I had a way of finding them. Most of us are into military vehicles for saving our history. I have found and passed on to other collectors some great deals over the...
Well said, this is a parts truck, you can find a better one very easy, there are plenty of half ton Dodges out there.
Also, this was VERY common after WWII for the half ton command cars to be made into pick up trucks.
Find a better truck, you will be happier in the long run.

These trailers popped up a lot for sell in the 1990s. What I was told back then, they were military trailers converted by the Tennessee valley authority. I think Sam Warner bought a lot of them and sold them though his surplus company.

The "getting old part" keeps slowing me down. Bought the paint for the 2nd coat, now can not find the paint! Went and bought some more today. The goal is to have the 106 mounted on the jeep this weekend.

Had two marines here this weekend helping me sand the 106 recoilless rifle that will be mounted in the back of the M38A1. Started painting the gun yesterday.

Most of the CCKWs you find are very used up. It would be great if you could get it and break it up for parts to restore others. Back in the 1980s and 1990s, the CCKWs got a new lease on life when the last of them were being sold off by our European allies. At that time "military vehicle...
WOW...wow, a Japanese 3x2 cargo motorcycle!! Is this the one known as a Sanrinsha?
On the Marine vehicles, I wish they would have taken an extra 5 minutes and looked up how to mark them, as they have some very nice and rare vehicles.
