    German STORCH of WWII

When the Bride and I picked up our long haired dachshund, the first thing I noticed was his fur colors. This little puppy had red hair, except under his nose, and down his chin was pure white. He looked just like a baby fox (ok, a "Kit"). I looked at my bride and told her, he looks like a baby...

    Just purchased my 2nd MV...M38A1

One great thing about the M38A1 jeep, it has a glove box the driver can actually use! That one item will spoil you in no time. Also, as already posted, looks like you did good on this jeep, most M38A1s I come across have the front fenders bent all to ****. One of the few, Frank USMC RET

    Installing Canvas Top on M37

I started doing this back in the 1970s, put the canvas in a heated area, then put it on. I have put on tops that were 2 inches to short when we started but after they heated up, fit right on. One of the few, Frank USMC RET

    Our M-37's first public outting

AzDeuce Yes, but by having the bridge plate, no lifting shackles around the rear tail lights, no paper clips on the front bumper, and the made up hood number.......like a lot of our gear, it was reprocessed in the middle of the night from an army unit. That is a BEAUTIFUL m37! Made this Marine...

    M890

In my crash crew unit we had a M893 (2 wheel drive ambulance), it was a tactical truck, and was painted camouflage. We carried our rescue gear in it. Down side is, we ended up carrying the rescue gear our selfs, because as soon as that ambulance departed the black top, it sank. The rear step was...

    long bed willys jeep..

No, they had an armored version, an ambulance version, it was mainly used as a tow vehicle. This was a test vehicle, that they tested, and found was not needed. Nothing to do with aircraft. Again, I am going off my head on this, I loaned my main vehicle book out years ago to a WWII veteran, and...

    long bed willys jeep..

That is the Willys Mt-TUG 6x6 jeep. I think only 15 were made during the war (could be wrong, getting old). During testing it was found they were not needed as they were all ready plenty of vehicles that could do the job. One of the few, Frank USMC RET

    Anybody have Mighty Mite Pictures?

Rod Here in my collection of manuals I was given the mighty mite prototype manual years ago by a Marine who joined the Marines before WWII , and spent 30 years in. He was in 2nd Motors at Camp Lejeune when they got in the first mighty mite (prototype). It was issued with the manual to a sergeant...

    G749 preservation

Years ago, GL sold off a couple of M109 trucks that were sat up as mobile command post for the Iraq war. They had the wall maps, and fold out beds to sleep on. Sorry this is going to be short as I am out the door, but maybe some else remembers seeing them. One of the few, Frank USMC RET

    Transmission manuals

Wanted to start another thread for this subject on the M-211 transmissions. I just picked up about 11 boxes of old used manuals. In the boxes were two manuals for the 301MG and the 303M hydra-matic transmissions. I asked on a post below about the manuals and was told the two manuals for the...

    Interesting WW2 photos/aircraft

One of my favorite WWII photos is in there. The photo of the carrier deck with the crashed hellcat that is burning up. The sailor is climbing up on the flaming aircraft with no protection gear on the help get the pilot out. Notice his foot is on the fuel drop tank! I have that photo (8x10)...

Some DUKW's go south for the Summer

I drove that DUKW back in 1988, the owner was a Marine, and a very good friend . The DUKW was named the "Dunkin Duck" because the owner at one time owned the Dunkin Donuts in Jacksonville, NC. If you look closely at the bow, you will see the remains of a sharks mouth that was painted on it years...
