Welcome! Spend a couple days reading and you will know much more than when you started.
Then, buy a green truck! Make some friends, and next thing you know, you will have five or ten trucks.
That's a good thing.
Details?
I just drove an M923a2 back from Ft Lewis. It will do 61 MPH max downhill with a tailwind. That's at about 2100 RPM. It did get 9.5 MPG so it was not fueled up.
Is your governed engine speed set higher? Trying to figure out how you got 70 MPH out of it.
I was crawling around under an M925 this evening that was stuck in low range. While getting a 2x4 into position to get that thing shifted back into high range I noticed the actuator for automatically shifting in the front end.
It would be easiest to just take off the lever arm on the valve or...
We've had this discussion before :deadhorse:
I've had the right front blowout at 65 MPH on a 1600.20 and can say that it is ~not a terrifying experience.
First it was "What's that noise?" then, "I hear what sounds like a big air leak, sounds like a tire but I can't feel any difference" and...
I get around 7 MPG with my M923a0 running 1600.20s
I got 9.5 MPG in my M923a2 running 1400.20s. I was amazed at that. Had to doublecheck the math. It gets better mileage than my deuce at twice the weight.
Really. It is a very lame setup. There is one stupid wire that goes directly from the heater fan switch to a center tap on the batteries so it gets 12vdc. I found out about it when I installed the battery relocation kit.
I considered just leaving it unhooked as I don't need a low speed heater...
If it's a deuce you have your heart set on they you will probably have to buy from a private party as there are very few of them left in the surplus channel.
I bought my first deuce from a guy who bought a bunch to resell. He made around $1000 on it, but it was great value for me. I got to...
I can't believe it! Maricopa County Sheriff has an M911. Ya gotta like Sheriff Joe. He is the Chuck Norris of Sheriffs.
One was sold here in Oregon on GSA about six months ago. I just had to sit on my hands and not bid.
For the life of me, I just couldn't figure out a legitimate answer to...
The big advantage of the equalizer is that it keeps the two batteries balanced. This would really help in the case of the m939 series trucks since the heater fan low speed is just 12vdc pulled off of one of the batteries. For this reason I never use the low heater fan speed.
Yep. If it has a flat when you get there, the tire[s] is[are] most likely ruined and not safe for the road.
Got lucky today, picked up an M923a2 with six solid tires on the ground and ~no air leaks. Weird. All the tires had air and they rolled home nice like. About the last thing I expected...
When my sender failed I went to Napa and asked for a Stewart Warner mechanical temperature gauge. I did not need the deep sensor well for it. It works great but the tube going out to the sensor is a little short and I couldn't route it the way I wanted.
Well what ~is it good for then? Only place I have seen it used is on cranes and winches with level winders.
Ex-brother-in-law was a big crane operator and rigger. He was the one who explained to me all about fiber core line. Repeatedly and on a regular basis. And got me lots of it for free.
